They put up their dukes, and circle only once before Benjen drops his left guard, and Payne smashes him square in the face, knocking out a tooth, and sending Benjen into an oblivion of blackness.
He wakes up a few minutes later with a splitting headache.

You had 70 points on the guy, who didn't even have a skill. There's no way I could award a skill increase for that.

I am not denouncing your logic, Stranger. I figure that I don't want to be stuck in the same rut as last time, so I'm trying for skill increases. It couldn't hurt to ask.

With Stranger it can hurt to ask, he might knock you down a level if you ask for an increase when it's wildly in appropriate. Generally, what I found, was you need to beat someone whose skill is higher than yours, to get an increase. That's how it was in my Naval battles.
