"Did you get the impression.... Lord Redfort, that he was sounding you out?" Milo asked.

So, Quentyn thought, when's the trial by combat?

"Having heard, Lord Redfort, the testimony from the Golden Hind, and from Lord Steffon... does it put your understanding of what Prince Daeron asked you... in another light?" Milo asked.

"A little yes."

Joanna smiled tentatively at Anni and returned her attention to the questions being put to Lord Redfort.

"When and where did you speak with Prince Daeron? It was in your room, at night was it not?" Milo asks.

"Yes he arrived at my door one night unannounced, him being a prince I thought it best to let him in."

Milo laughed overly loud, "Ah... wise policy, wise policy. Upon your exchange of views regarding King Daemon's marriage, did Prince Daeron give you any instructions or suggestions? Did he tell you to speak to anyone? To gather arms? To act a certain way, or to not act a certain way? Anything of that nature?"

"Are you absolutely certain... Lord Redfort?" Milo smiled, "keeping in mind that there are penalties for perjury..., and that there are witnesses yet to be called whose story may contradict your own? I ask you again... did Prince Daeron give you ANY instructions?"

"He might have given me some instructions to keep the way I felt hidden, but I was planning to do this before he told me. So in my opinion he did not give me any instructions that I did not already know to do."

Milo smiled, "So he told you not to tell anyone... even though, at the time, you didn't think that your conversation meant much, now that you have heard the testimony regarding Prince Daeron's conversation with Lord Steffon, do you think that perhaps he ordered you to silence for another purpose... a... treasonous purpose? Do you think that possible?"

"Anything is possible, for all I know he could have been trying to organize a giant cyvasse game."
