"Did Prince Daeron suggest that he was going to speak to the others, in order to find out their opinions regarding Queen Joanna and King Daemon? I remind you that I can recall the Goodman Barkeep if necessary," Milo asked.

"The only men he mentioned he was going to see were the Sages of the College."

"So then..." Milo looked down at his notes, "Prince Daeron did NOT say, that he would, "Stick around court... see how people feel, about certain things?"

"Goodman Barkeep has a good memory," Steffon said. "He did say that, I had forgotten."

The lord of the Redfort enters just about the time Milo was getting done with the Barkeep, He took his spot among the minor nobility.

Milo smiled wickedly, "And... and it was... following Daeron's statement regarding sounding others at court out about certain things that you and Prince Daeron discussed the defenses of your respective keeps, and Prince Daeron made his statement about dragons and the Sages. Would it be possible then, to interpret Prince Daeron as sounding you out... as to your interest in treason and rebellion against his grace?"

"I did not interpret it that way. I did not think it was treason to remark that my walls would be melted by Dragonfire, should his grace the King desire it so."

"So it could NOT be interpreted that way? No rational man might conclude, that if a man tells him that he thinks the king is perverse... and that he is going to talk to others... and that his fortress cannot withstand dragonfire, but that dragons are mortal and can be poisoned... and that he is going to speak to the sages of the college, men who would HAVE such a poison, that perhaps he is plotting treason? That is an impossible conclusion to draw... Lord Steffon?

"I did not say that, Lord Bettley. That is doubtless the conclusion that yourself and Goodman Bartender have drawn, but I suppose I would not like to think of my brother as a traitor."

"So... it would be fair to say, that you have given Prince Daeron... the benefit of the doubt... on account of your family relationship?" Milo asked, "And were he... someone else's brother, you might have interpreted his words... with more suspicion?"

"Yes."

"That's all my questions for this witness, your grace," Milo says to the King. Daemon nods, more sullen now then ever.
"Prince Daeron... any questions for THIS witness?"

"I have no questions for him." Daeron replied with a shake of his head.

Daemon looked very cross, "Prince Daeron do you have any intention of doing any cross-examination of the prosecutions witnesses, or should we have all of their statements presumed as fact?"
