"While you are mostly correct, you forget that the Citadel was given control of Oldtown by my mother. So they do have guards working for them." Daemon replied, "I think there will need to be some negotiation there, but I think their inability to fund a large force will make them more eager to acquiesce."

Quentyn gives Daemon a slightly rueful smile. "I did not say it would be easy, Your Grace, only that it would be somewhat easier than other cities. The maesters have guards, but they are scholars at heart, not commanders of men. Do I have Your Grace's permission to carry out the necessary negotiations with the archmaesters on the subject?"

"I will speak with him once I have a better sense of how much this will cost. It is possible some of the costs can be covered by the city in question."

Daemon nodded, "That is possible. And a good idea." He smiled warmly, "I am glad you like the idea so much."

"It is an interesting challenge, Your Grace, and I have always been a sucker for interesting challenges." He smiles and bows. "I should not want to take up more of your time."

"And that, Your Grace, is a great honor." Quentyn bows and makes to leave, but turns back before exiting. "I did hear a rumor on my way here," he says, "Is it true that the Prince of Dorne has been confined to the dungeons?"

"He has refused to take on the mantle of Master of Laws, and was quite uncivil when he did so." Daemon replied, "I think his execution may be a step too far."

"I would agree," Quentyn says cautiously, not quite sure whether Daemon is joking. He is careful with his tone, making sure to sound concerned rather than challenging. "With all due respect, Your Grace, you expressed a desire to see your justice done throughout the realm. Is refusing a position now a crime?"

Daemon replied, "Failing to serve the King is always a crime. As is treating the King with disrespect." He shook his head, "He is in the dungeon's voluntarily. No guard bars his exit."

Quentyn frowns, his confusion evident at Trystane's condition. "I see. Good day, Your Grace."
Quentyn leaves the room.
