The door is answered by a man wearing more daggers then Joanna thought possible, and no ears. "Ah?" He barked

The man studied her and then turned into the room, "Ah, Milo, there's some stuck up, bright bird here for ya."
Milo asked, "Does she look dangerous?"
The man guffawed, "In all the worst ways."
Milo snickered, "Then let her inn."
The large man stepped back, and opened the door for Joanna.

She walked in with dignity and frowned at Milo.
"Lord Bettley, you should teach your men to mind their manners in the presence of highborn ladies."

Milo laughed, "I doubt they are bright enough to learn such a lesson."
The seven large men sitting or standing about the room laugh.

Joanna eyed them with suspicion.
"Milo, I wanted to talk to you alon. Please send your men away."

Milo nodded, and waved. The men moved out into the hall. Milo walked over to his cabinet and poured them each a glass of wine.

She smiled but refused the wine.
"Thank you, no. I find my stomach too delicate for most wine at present. Milo, do you remember our last conversation?"

Milo shook his head, "They are not. They will not testify against their lord. I told you. The only reason I know what I know is because soldiers talk to merchants."

"There was no point telling me if the matter is not going to be referred to the proper authorities," Joanna said. "The guilty should be punished, and so forth. You do want justice done, don't you?"
