He raised an eyebrow. "Any work I have now that does not relate to my previous position can be done as easily from the Eyrie as it can be from court."

"Well I hope you're nice and safe up there. It's not the same my Prince, and you know it. You will be putting yourself several steps behind everyone else."

"Perhaps that is for the best. Lord Bettley has attempted to make the king move against me all ready. Some time away from court would be well spent. Ser Robert will going to King's Landing to take up residence in my manse, he will be my eyes and ears in the city. Should you require my aid in anything, you may come to him."
Robert winked kindly.

Arya nodded slowly, appraising a dress that Daeron had given her. "That will be fine. I never knew you were in trouble with Milo."

Arya's demeanor tells Maekar nothing.

Maekar nodded, "yes, and so it would best if I removed myself from him, at least until I am in a better position to deal with him."

"Yes, he's strong. It seems he hasn't missed a step despite his age. I am on good terms with Queen Joanna but I am remaining as one of the ladies in waiting for Queen Morgan."

"That would be wise, you will find Ser Robert to be more than capable to see to your defence, should you decide to trust in him."
He made a gesture to dismiss Robert, who nodded. "I will see you in the city then, my lady," the knight said with a bow before leaving.
Maekar looked at Arya after he had gone. "Be safe, Arya, you are walking a dangerous line," he said quietly.

Arya got to the gold dress which left nothing to the imagination. Her face turned red and she hid it quickly. "I have been for years my Prince. I have felt blades carve into my skin, no pain I've had so far matches the fear that I feel at times."

Maekar's eyes drifted to the dress, for a split second it seemed to ignite his imagination, but he quickly looked back to Arya. "I know, just remember to never lower your guard, not for a moment."

"I'm not like that, I don't think I can ever be fully guarded. But I will try my best." She left her dresses for a moment and came to hug him. "I've been honest with you Maekar, but I can't tell you everything about me. Not yet anyway."

Maekar straightened himself as she put her arms around him. He responded in kind, though awkwardly at first, it soon felt quite natural.
"That is understandable, Arya," he said softly. "Your secrets are yours."

"Thank you. You've been kind to me, it would be hard to not respond to you likewise. I will be in contact with you through you man. It will be so lonely without friends.."
