Bile rose up in Joanna's throat. She swallowed it with a grimace and stepped closer to the corpse. She looked for stray splashes of blood around the room, a weapon, anything that looked odd or suspicious.

The weapon had been placed on the pillow next to the woman's head. It was simple knife from the kitchens.

JShe eyedi t dubiously and then examined the corpse itself more closely, checking for signs of a struggle.
