She hugged him with a sense of relief.
"Thank you. I am grateful. I don't feel I can leave the children yet so I am not sure I can go out to find the men myself. Would that I could. Daemon...there is one other thing I would have of you, if you will."

Daemon patted her back, "Tell me."

"Would you confirm Eleyna as Lady of Runestone? It's her proper place as Jon has no male heir but there may be some who don't like it. I will sleep easier in my bed if I know my daughter has your blessing."

Daemon nodded, "Of course. That seems perfectly proper to me." He squeezed her slightly.

"Thank you."
She leaned in and kissed his cheek.
"You have a good heart, Daemon. I am most grateful for your kindness."

"I am most grateful that you are alright. I was so worried." Daemon replied, and sighed.

"I'm well enough, just very shaken and struck by grief. It will be a while before I feel myself again. I loved Jon dearly and he deserved better."

Daemon nodded, and squeezed her hand. "There is no doubt of that. He did."

"Can you think of anything else we can do to catch my attackers? I'm at a loss," Joanna admitted. "There was no clue at all, Daemon. Somebody wanted me or Jon or both of us dead and I have no idea why."

Daemon shrugged, "I do not know. We will do what we can. I am unsure yet what our options are... I literally just landed."

"I know. I am sorry to press you. I have thought about hiriing a person to investigate for me but I grow fearful of trusting any man I do not already know."
She paused and looked directly at him.
"Even a loyal member of my own household might have been in on the plot and I have no way of knowing."

Daemon nodded, "I will ask Manderly to look into it, and Milo. And I will look into it myself. The more eyes the better nothing will go unmissed. I swear."

"Thank you. I will begin to look myself once I am confident in leaving the girls. They must be looked afte now. They're all I have left of their father. I love them dearly, as you must love your sons."
Her resolve seemed to grow.
"Jon must be avenged, for the sake of his daughters. I will not permit them to grow up in a world where crimes are not punished."

Daemon nodded, "I promise you... the culprits will pay most dear." He frowned, and then squeezed her hand. "Even if I must ride to war myself."

Shemanaged to smile at last, pleased by the notion.
"You would do that, for me?"
