The bard lifts his head and looks around at the kitchen filled with laughter.
"Oh, bloody hell."
He smiled and laughed with them, the sound resonating just as well as the music he was known for.
"I apologize. You must be the Lady Elena."
He looks around at the kitchen staff, then turns back to Elena.
"Is there any specific tune you would like to hear?"

Eleyna looked at the bard.
"I am Lady Eleyna. Lord Jon is my father. I would have you sing The Song of the Seven."
She smiled at Septa Aalina.
"I was hungry so I came down here. I hope Mother and Father are going to hire this bad. It's been so long since we had a bard at Runestone. It will be more like being at Court if we have this bard here."

"I'm not thirsty, but help yourself." Jon says wearily. Joanna fetched a pitcher and two cups. She poured wine for herself and left the second cup enar Jon in case he changed his mind. "So now what?" She asked. |

The bard smiles.
"As the Lady Elena wishes."
He sets down his satchel, and gently unties it, revealing rations for the road, a long and slender case, a large rectangular case, and a lute engraved with lions and dragons, crafted from fine teak. He lifts the lute from the rest of his items, and caresses the item, tweaking the strings and adjusting the sound until it fits his tastes. He looks up when he is finished.
"The Song of Seven, you said?"

Aalina wrinkled her nose a little.
"You shouldnt be down here Eleyna. Its not fitting for a lady, and no one spends time in the kitchens at court no matter how many bards are there."
She smiled at the bard, and sighed.
"One song alright?"

"Yes, the Song of the Seven," Eleyna confirmed.
She turned back to Aalina and smiled innocently.
"I'm sorry, septa. I was hungry, that's why I came. I didn't know the bard would be here. I don't normally visit the kitchens."

The bard smiles and closes his eyes, softly pulling his fingers across the lute, weaving melody and harmony into one before he begins to sing of the seven gods of Westeros in a tenor that is even more smooth than his speaking voice.

"Why dismiss the servants if you aren't going to yell at me, then?"

Aalina put her finger to her mouth as the bard sang to shush Eleyna.

The bard finished with an ascending chord from his lute and a sustained note from his voice. He opened his eyes and smiled at Elena, his blue eyes glittering almost as much as his white smile.

Aalina rolled her eyes. She couldnt deny that he wasnt a great singer but his smile was cheesy.
"Well done" she said to him. "And you Eleyna, your not supposed to be in here. Its not a place for young ladies, something Id expect from your sister not you."

"I'm sorry," Eleyna said. "I will go. Thank you, ser bard. You sang wonderfully."
She smiled and left.

Joanna sighed.
"Jon, I thought you were going to continue yelling at me and I had no wish to be further humiliated in front of the servants. I wish you would tell me what you actually wanted me to do now. I've apologised for my folly. What else can I do?"

The bard replaced his lute in the bundle, and retied it. He stands back up and looks at the conversation between Elena and her attendant. The look that the attendant gave him told all. He needs to work on his finish, but that had always been his weak point. He leaned back and watched the exchange, sneaking a crust of bread from a nearby counter as he did so.
