"Would you still have wanted to marry me if Daemon had put you in a position that made you look foolish?"

"Foolish yes. Disgraced my whole family... I love you dear, but no. Some things are more important than what we want in this life," Jon said sighing.

Joanna gazed miserably at the table.
"Pride, you mean? I've got too much pride for my own good, which must be why Daemon wanted to humiliate me. Truth be todl I wish I hadn't done it but there's nothing we can do about that now. I thought it wouldn't matter, that it would be a minor scandal and no more, but all those men...the people of Kings Landing...the things they said!"
She shuddered in remembrance.

"A minor scandal? Maybe in King Daemon's fancy court, but in Runestone EVERYONE is talking about it. My wife... bare ass naked." he shuddered visibly.

"How do your people even know what happened?" She asked faintly. "Runestone isn't that close to Kings Landing."

"Don't be a fool? The King's sister, naked through the streets? You think word of such insanity doesn't spread faster than wildfire on dry tinder? EVERYONE KNOWS!" Jon says, raising his voice again and throwing his hands up.

Joanna realised suddenly that they were in view of half the people of Runestone. Feeling sick, she said "I'm sorry, Jon, truly. I took a risk and it didn't pay off. If you must be angry with me, then do so, but not here in front of our people."

Jon gestured at the servants, "Get the fuck out!"
They ran.

Joanna watched the servants with a mixture of admiration and anxiety.
"Well, that was effective, though hardly what I had in mind. I don't suppose I'll get my wine now, either. Can I fetch you a drink?"

The bard stood at the gates of Runestone, his body weary from his journey. He sought only the person that hired him, and a good bed to sleep in.

The gard was shown into the castle kitchens where he was fussed over by the servants. The young women in particular were eager to hear him sing. Eleyna Royce, eldest daughter of Lord Jon and Princess Joanna, had come to the kitchens to scavenge some food rather htan wait for it to be brought up to her. She chewed on a slice of bread and butter as she eyed the newcomer with interest.
"Good day, ser bard. Will you sing for me?"

The bard starts for a moment, not so much at the lady that had hired him as much as the imposing figure of the head chef standing beside her, but quickly regained his composure and spoke in a smooth-toned voice. "Lady Targaryen, thank you for procuring my services." He drops to one knee, and bows his head before his new master.

"Lady Targaryen, thank you for procuring my services." He drops to one knee, and bows his head before his new master. Runestone's chef looked at the bard curiously. "Errr, go ahead, fine bard, please your lord!" he said, brandish a wooden spoon like a sceptre. The kitchen staff laughed.
