The summering camp of the Bearded Men, high in the northern reaches of the Mountains of the Moon. There are a couple hundred heavy hide structures held up by poles made from wood. The structures, called Haerths by the clansmen, are covered in fur and coated with oil made from animal fat. There is a Haerth three times the size of any other near the center of the camp with a tall cross-pole from which a bear hide cut to look a beard hangs. There is a herd of goats about the camp, and a wooden fenced area with 30-40 small horses.

Megguchin sat on his haunches outside the Haerth he shared with his family. He sat oiling the blade of the fat sword his father had given him two years before. Swords were not common among his people. He examined the old blade down to the hilt which his father had rewrapped with fresh leather cut into strips.

Yuni sat down next to him, and tugged at the hem of her deer skin tunic.
"You should get a spear megguchin... It's longer. No one wants short stubby weapon of the invaders." She was clearly jealous.

Megguchin gave a harrumph. "Invaders... Who's ever seen 'em anyway." He put the oiling cloth back into the pouch hanging from his belt. "Father says a sword is the better weapon."

"Bah... Weapons should be long and hard, not short and stubby." Yuni said with a smile.

Megguchin chuckled at her joke. "He says it's elegant." He stood and gave a practice cut, one of the many strokes his father had taught him. "He said the invaders call this a... falchion. Or something like that."

"Elegant? Is that the creature that the storyteller speaks of, that lives to the south with the long nose and floppy ears?" Yuni asks sincerely, as she also stands.

"No, I think that's called an elepants." Megguchin said. A mischevious smile formed on his face. "Elegant means graceful, like the curve of your backside." With that he hit her on the aforementioned feature with the flat of the blade and danced away laughing.

Yuni's spear was off her back and in her hand in a shot, and she danced forward jabbing at Megguchin's crouch.

Megguchin parried her thrusts with ease, using the unsharpened edge of the blade to minimize damage to the spear. He illustrated the sword's advantage in misdirecting each of her strikes. Then after knocking one thrust high and outside he closed to a distance inside the spear's reach and brought the blade near to her neck. He smiled, "See? Elegant."

She smiled coyly and brought her knee up to smash against his manhood.

Megguchin dropped to his knees and fell on his side, coughing.

"Men are weak creatures... I do not understand why the Gods would put their most vital point on the outside..." She chuckles... "And if you are so easily dropped Megguchin, I think you will never steal a woman."

Megguchin was laughing in between coughs. "It is a mystery. Of course had we been playing for keeps you would not have been offered any mercy."

"Slit my throat and you can't claim me for your bed, so you'd still have to hold off, and I'd have still kneed your baby maker." Yuni taunts.
