"As far as we know, the city remains open. The Braavos have stalled their advance. Heavy rain to the North has delayed their siege train," the guardsman says. "Seems the Norvosi and Qohoriks were counting on Braavos to bring the catapults and the like."

"Sondrat I want you to teach me how to read and write," Kenenth says thinking about the note the old woman had given him. "Chances are we are going to have some time on our hands with the Braavosi coming to place us under siege."
"Of course, Captain," Sondrat says, "I'll help improve your Valaryian why I am at it. You shouldn't be talking like a soldier to everyone you meet."
Kenneth sets a side time every day while the army is in camp to practice.
