Daeron nodded. "Have you received reports of anyone actually seeing this... creature? How many disappearances have there been in total?"

The Lady looks at the Maester, who grumbled, and removed a small piece of paper from his pocket.
"Thirty-seven... no Thirty-eight." He says after a quick recount. "and in every case, it was a girl taken, between the ages of thirteen and nineteen. All unmarried maidens. From their beds, or from the center of the village, in no case was anyone ever seen."

Daeron scratched his stubble, and cursed himself for not taking a razor. "Hmmm. How long ago was the first maid taken?"

The Maester explained.

Daeron nodded. "That is unfortunate. If it is not too much of an intrustion may I ask to stay here the night? The weather outside is not as pleasant at night than it is in the day time and I shall behave myself."

"Of course your grace, we would not think to refuse you," Lady Serret says, "You are most welcome here."

Daeron smiled. "Many thanks to you. I think should retire to my rooms now, once I have been shown to them of course." He chuckles and gets up.

In the night he woke, put his clothes on and peered out of the door into the hall.

Daeron stepped out quietly and closed his door, keeping an ear out for a moment for any noises.
