Quentyn arrives at the Magistrates offices, back in his sellsword guise. He wears mail and leather and has a dozen different daggers festooned over his chest in addition to the shortsword and buckler at his hip. He missed Bannen -- by size alone, the big knight was more intimidating than Quentyn could ever hope to be -- but he puts an extra swagger in his step and stares down anyone who so much glances at him.
"Oy," Quentyn says to one of the guards, "I hear Magistrate Totte's looking to hire quality swords. Where can I talk to him?"

The man at the gate looks at Quentyn, and nods, "He is. Go in and speak to Gretel."

Quentyn walks inside, looks for the man he judges most likely to be Gretel, and says, "Are you Gretel?"

"You are alone right? Few men sell their sword alone." Gretel replied.

Quentyn grunts. "My mate caught the flux on the voyage over." He spits unsentimentally to the side. "Didn't make it. Don't matter though. My sword's worth two all by itself."

"Well the master has sent most of his men to serve with the alliance. So he needs some extra guards for here." Gretel explained.

Quentyn looks impressed. "Aye, that'll do," he says. "When d'you want me to start?"

"Hold your horses. You can not be hired with out showing Captain Frettar that you can handle a blade." Gretel points across the manse to behind the barracks, "Go over there, and when Frettar has a moment he will test your skill."

Quentyn grins. "Won't be no problems on that account, I'll tell ya." He walks over to the barracks, idly cracking his knuckles as he observes the quality of the guards here.
