In the waters around Volantis, Ser Rodrick prepares his fleet to begin raiding merchant ships an shipping lines while he waits for the rest of the sellsails out of Tyrosh to join him. His fleet will attack any ship or ships in a group of 10 or less, though if faced with a larger group of warships he will sail northward and attempt to join the other sellsails before engaging the Volantene warships.

A convoy of eight large Volante merchant ships moves in to port, and a cry from atop the mast gives their location to Rodrick on the ship's aft-castle.

Rodrick begins bellowing orders, and his helmsman begins to swing Fury around to face the Volantene convoy. Men send signals to the other ships of the fleet, using sun light reflected of polished bronze shields and the twenty ships of the Stormlands begin to sail toward the smaller group of merchant vessels.
As they close the distance, oars are extended from the sides of each warship, and Rodrick gives the order to increase to ramming speed.

The Merchant ships were able to get away safely, and Rodrick defeated the small group of Volentene Warships that had slid out of the harbor to protect them. He'd lost one of his ships in the skirmish, though almost completely destroyed the Volantenes and captured one of their ships to replace the one he'd lost, though he had no men to crew it.
Rodrick turned his fleet back north and began to make for the rendezvous point. He appointed one of his men to be the captain of the captured ship, and sent him north with a skeleton crew toward Lys, which was the closest of the Allied Cities to Volantis. He ordered the newly-made captain to to re-crew the captured ship, and re-supply, and then to return south to rejoin the fleet.

The Admiral sends over orders to each fleet captain. Most are detailed to strike at any merchant shipping attempting to enter or leave the port of Volantis. Ser Rodrick's group of 19 is assigned to patrol North, and interdict any Braavosi naval units which attempt to interfere.

Rodrick grumbles slightly, having preferred to be among the ships striking the harbor for the plunder would be good there, but he ordered his ships to move northward in a patrol formation, watching for any Braavosi retaliation.

A sailor calls out to Steffon Baratheon, that ships are sailing up from Volantis, with their messenger ship in the lead. The man says he counts twenty ships, not counting your own. Soon, a ship bearing a Skull wearing a forked beard Red and Blue approaches, and pulls along side.
"Captain Andro Gyernis seeking permission come aboard!" Says one of the sailors.

They are waved over by Rodrick's men, and the captain is welcomed aboard. Rodrick Baratheon is lightly armored, in black chainmail and quarter-plate and a large flanged mace hangs on his hip.
"Hail captain," Ser Rodrick said when the other man arrived. "How fares the fleet in Volantis?"

"Well enough. They Volante have stopped trying to run the blockade, so they realize we're serious. Your messenger said you were expecting some intervention from the Braavosi, so the Admiral sent me. Can't say I wouldn't rather be taking fat merchant ships low in the water with full hulls of goods, but you must go where you're sent."

"Aye, I would rather have a chance at some plunder as well. We repelled an attack by a Braavosi fleet eight days ago, and the whoresons sank three of my ships. I'd have chased them when they fled, but I could not go to far, and I don't doubt that they'll be back," Rodrick said.

The man strokes his beard, "I understand. Well, best to fan out, see if we can't spot them coming before they spot us? If we do, reform here, and give them the what for."

"Aye, Captain, we shall follow your lead," the young knight replied, recognizing a captain more experienced than he.

The Sellsail bowed, "I'll speak to you after then, good luck, and happy hunting."

"You as well," he replied, with a bow. Once the captain returned to his own ship, Rodrick spread his own vessels out, and sailed north up the coast seeking any indication of a Braavosi fleet.
