Born in Midland, Indiana on December 24, 1923 to Abraham and Eprathah Solomon. His father was a moderately man who owned and operated a small sewing machine factory. For the first eight years of his life, Moe ran through the woods with his two older brothers, his two younger sisters, and one younger brother. He had a privileged and safe childhood.
The Solomon Sewing company went under in 1931. With sales down, and his debt mounting, Abe had to shutter his factory, and sell it for nickles on the dollar. In the midst of the great depression, Abe was lucky to get a job running a factory floor in Chicago. The family of eight moved into a tenement in a Jewish ghetto of Chicago. Eprie began to work in her husbands factory to help afford the needs of eight children.
The two eldest boys Ben and Abe Jr. watched the others, and helped raise them. In 1935 Ben Abe got a job running numbers for the Chicago Outfit. When he was fourteen, Moe started working part time in a mechanics shop.
In 1941 the day after Pearl Harbor, Moe, and both his older brothers went to recruiters. Moe choose the marines, while his elders brothers both joined the regular navy. Moe ended up in Parris Island and training for the war.
Moe hide his mechanic skills from the drill instructors because he did not want to serve as a mechanic during the war. Designated a Sargent during his training, and promoted after the completion of his training. He joined the 1st Marine division with a new regiment. He served on Guadalcanal and was wounded toward the end of the conflict, earning his first purple heart. It was a minor wound, and he was ready to serve again in a couple months. Moe had his strips stripped from him on the battle, he disobeyed a direct order from a wet Second Lieutenant who would have gotten people killed.
Moe was back for Operation Cartwheel, and the battle of Peleliu. He earned back his strips, but still had issues with some of the less experienced officers. A Gunny named Max Heidt, an old China Marine, took Moe under his wing, and taught him how to be a true Marine. The two bonded closely and became good friends.
During the battle of Okinawa, Gunny Heidt was given an order by another second Lieutenant that amounted to a suicide attack, and an unnecessary one at that. Moe insisted on going with Max's squad, and the older Gunnery Sargent agreed reluctantly. The squad moved out, and of the eight men who went only Moe returned alive, and leaking blood.
Later Moe was recovering at the aid station when the Lieutenant stopped by to congratulate him on the completely useless mission. Wound in the left arm, he stood up and punched him in the face. And then kicked him in the gut several times as he lay there on the ground. Moe was dragged back by several of the doctors, and after he was patched up he was arrested.
A colonel who had been a friend of the Gunny, reached out and used his connections to protect Moe from going to prison. Instead Moe was allowed to heal up, and then given a general discharge.
Moe returned with many other veterans, and he had one mission before he returned to real life. He had a letter from Gunny Heidt that he had swore to deliver to the Gunny's daughter. Adele Heidt was living with her aunt, for her mom had passed away years ago when Moe knocked on her door with the letter from her father. Only seventeen there was an immediate connection between her, and Moe. It was at that moment Moe decided to move to Blank City.
Needing a job Moe went and applied at the Black City's Police Department. Using a letter from the Colonel, he was able to get a job on the force. Moe was always slightly an outsider on the force, accepted because of his military service, he was one of the only Jews on the force. He graduated the Police academy at the top of his class, and was given his own beat in the downtown.
The day after Adele graduated from high school Moe proposed to her, and she accepted. They married in 1947, and bought a small house in the city. They were happy, and quite content. Adele had decided she wished to be a teacher. She began to attend a local night college. Moe supported her completely, and they decided to wait to have children.
Moe, while not a crooked cop, had a good head for business. All along his beat he made friends, and connections. He opened a small Private Investigator office that he ran out of his cellar at first. Some of his jobs were slightly questionable for a police officer to be performing, but that did not seem to bother Moe at all.
At the start of Korea quite a few men in the Force were called back up, and returned to service. With his general discharge that option was not open to Moe, but he was fortunate because he was promoted to detective to fill those ranks. He served capable until the end of Korea, but when they took his detective shield from him, and asked him to go back to his beat he resigned.
At this point with the connections, and experience he had garnered his private eye business was flourishing. He ran that business well, and was even able to rent a small office downtown for that business. His wife had finished school and had come to work for him at his firm.
Adele and Moe decided to start a family now, and soon she was quite pleasantly pregnant. Moe was happy, and thinking about hiring another associate at his firm. Then one day he returned to his small little house and had the worst day of his life. He hand not seen so much blood since the war.
The next day he crawled into a bottle, and has only come out for short breathers since then. He is staying in the office because he can barely allow himself to enter his house. He sits across the street staring at the house that used to make him so happy drinking. Twice he has placed the side of his 45 against his temple, and only the thought of revenge has stopped his finger from itching.
Physical Description: Five foot four. With dark brown hair. Slim but extremely fit, at least until recently. He has become slightly puffy, and worn since her death, with all the drinking. He has two tattoos, one on each of his shoulders, a star of David, and an eagle and flag on his other shoulder. His back is scarred from grenade shrapnel, and his left arm has a deep groove in it from a samurai sword. There are two scars on his right leg from bullet wounds.
