When Benjen woke he was in the bed of a small hovel. Leilianna sat at the small table eating dinner with an old farmer.

Benjen winced at the pain he was in but struggled into a sitting position.
"Leilanna?"

Leilianna stood and turned to face him, "How do you feel?" She moved closer, and offered him a wry smile.

Benjen scowled.
"How could I be, when I ended up wounded and having to retreat? There's nothing impressive about that."

Leilianna smiled, "I am fine. It was impressive to see some one so skilled with their sword."

He stared at her in disbelief.
"Why? I can imagine nothing worse."

"I am not speaking of removing their organ, but of their stubborn pride." Leilianna replied.

"Pride is important," Benjen said. "For some men, it's all they have. Women too. Mother used to say that I, and her pride, were the only true things that belonged to her."

Leilianna laughed sounding like bells, "I have long ago learned that everything is possible when you have removed the last shards of pride in your heart."
