"If you had known what Kings Landing was like before the blight of the Iron Born you would never call this your home." Euric said with a chuckle.

"I am thankful they are gone now and that we are in peace so that we can have such a nice court as we have now. Have you ever seen the dragons up close?"

"When they were younger." Euric said. "I also saw the mother, long ago." He shakes his head. "I have never sympathized with the thought of dragons but they have been useful."

"We would not be here if it was not for them, they are wonderful creatures. I hope to someday get a close look at them, maybe even touch one. I wonder if King Daemon would honour my request for my nameday."

"Mayhap, though the keeping of the beasts has been very strict." Euric said. "I know they are beautiful, Arya, but they are dangerous animals. In the wrong hands they could cause mass destruction."

"They are in good hands now and no one will ever dare stand up to them. Unless you think that there is something terrible going to happen soon?"

"Of course not." Euric said with a wizened smile. "But one most always expect the worst. That is one thing I always teach the young students of tactics, but it applies to many things in life."

"I'd rather hope for the best. I don't think I could survive always anticipating bad things happening. Like poor Lord Banefort, I'm sure he always expects the worst to happen and they do. I heard he's had to rebuild his house near three times due to accidents."

Euric chuckled. "Banefort... I remember him when he was a young man. He's unlucky, but still has gone far, which just goes to show. I do not want you thinking glum thoughts about the future but I merely worry that some day you might have your hopes crushed." He stroked her cheek like any father would.

"I know that..well, I just want to be positive. I know what to expect in certain situations already. I care for a man but I know that he would never love me back, but I know not to get my hopes up in that case."

Euric raised an eyebrow. "And who might this man be?"

"It doesnt matter father, it is best I forget about him, but it is like more of an attraction because I can't have him..like in old love poetry."

"I see." Euric said with a small smile. "Love comes and goes, Arya. You can still learn a few things from your old father."

"I will. I will love you forever. And I'll always be learning from you. Was there any time you thought that you and mother would not be able to be together?"

Euric smiled. "I love you too, my beautiful daughter." He took another sip from his juice. "There was a time, yes... very early on when she was on a mission to Dorne. It is thanks to Alysanne that King Daemon has his dragons. Many times I thought she was dead or would never come back."
