The highest point in the Drum Tower in Storm's End is where the Lord Baratheon makes his solar. There is one large window on each side of the solar, save the South, where the passage leads down into the rest of the castle. The windows are paned with expensive glass, crafted thick enough to withstand the storms off the bay, and fit specially into the stone to maintain their structure. Anyone in the solair is afforded a fantastic view of the stormlands to the north and west, as well as Shipbreaker Bay to the east. On a clear day the Island of Tarth is visible. Between the windows, hung on the stone walls are various weapons and in the center of the room is a massive oak desk on which several large decanters containing various whiskeys and wines rest. There are four plush chairs as well, and a single bookshelf stands next to the door filled with treatises on strategy and warfare.

"Welcome, brother. Have a seat, and a drink," Steffon said, gesturing at the whiskeys and wines on his desk, and the chair that sat next to it.

Maekar moved to the desk and poured himself a goblet of wine, then took a seat. He sipped at the wine and watched his brother.

"Lord Caron arrived back yesterday. He was captured by this so-called 'Vulture King' and I had to ransom him back. I'd say he's certainly moving up in the world of outlaws," Steffon added dryly.

"You had to ransom Lord Caron? Do his kin have no love for him?" Maekar asked curiously.

"He is my wife's brother, and the Vulture King's demands came to Storm's End rather than Nightsong. I chose to deal with the matter quietly, to spare him the embarrassment, but I still do not think I have enough reliable information to find the man's lair to root him out. Your tracker, the Summer Islander, led us on the trail for a while, but we lost it when it crossed the Dornish border and we were not permitted to keep searching for it by Wyl's men," Steffon explained.

"Had you coordinated with Lord Wyl beforehand you would have undoubtedly had a smaller chance of faliure," Maekar said stiffly.

"Perhaps, but asking a Dornishman for help tends to be something akin to using a blade with no hilt. It might work, but more likely than not it will do more harm than help," Steffon replied. "Besides, if Wyl would do his goddamn job this 'Vulture King' would be long dead."

"Do try to rise above this old petty rivalry between the Stormlands and Dorne, Steffon, it would be in your best interest."

"Maekar, this is an enmity that goes back fifteen hundred years. At the very least, Wyl is giving shelter to a proclaimed outlaw, who can then raid into my lands with impunity," Steffon replied.

"Based on what evidence?" Maekar asked.

"I don't have anything besides burned villages on the border and a feeling in my gut. Not enough for the Master of Laws, I imagine," he said.

"Nor for the king. But Daemon is want to take your side in this dispute, so provided Wyl has no evidence against you, there should be nothing for you to worry about."
