There is only one break in Storm's End's gigantic curtain wall, which is more of a tunnel through the thick stone rather than a proper gate. A double portculis protects the inner bailey as well as scores of murder holes. In the history of the Seven Kingdoms, Storm's End has never fallen to siege or storm, save when it has been yielded by its garrison.
From this gate, the Kingsroad runs up through the Kingswood, connecting Storm's End to King's Landing.

A young girl of not more than twelve riding a sad looking donkey approaches the gate. She wears a rough spun cloth dress.

She is brought inside the gates by the guards standing watch, and the castle's Maester is summoned. Steffon was in the training yard at the time, so he came up to see what was going on. He went down to a knee, to be at eye-level with the girl.
"What are you doing alone on the road, lass?" he asked kindly.

"I'm hear to deliver a message milord," the girl says, reaching into her dress and removing a scroll wrapped in a bow.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Twenty black-mailed men on black horses, ride up the road, led by a man wearing white scale mail. One of the men is holding the Targaryen Dragon Banner. The white knight is Ser Jon Locke
"Open the gate in the name of his grace King Daemon Targaryen!" Locke demands harshly.
Dust is swirling up from the road, as more black-mailed men, marching in two columns, escorting a number of riders, and a massive wheelhouse pulled by draft horses.

The massive gates open, and twenty knights ride out and position themselves in two columns of ten, one on either side of the gates. Lord Steffon Baratheon rides out on his own black stallion, to greet the king personally.

After a short while, the King exits the Wheelhouse, with Queen Morgan on his arm. Becca Thatcher follows a short ways behind them, holding the bottom of the Queens' gown out of the muck. Rolf Groomsmen, Aerion Varner, and Ser Aidan Sand take up positions on the King's flanks, as they approach.
"Lord Baratheon," Daemon says formally, " thank you for welcoming me to your hearth and home." He smiled the formality away, "it is good to see you Steffon."

"Welcome, your grace," Steffon said, bowing first to the King and then to the Queen. "My hearth and hall are yours, so long as you require them. Can I offer you a refreshment? Your first feast will not be ready for a few hours yet," Steffon added, with a wink.

"Well, let's get inside the keep before we start the drinking," Daemon chuckled. "Who else is coming, may I ask? To these feasts?"

"Anyone in the stormlands who wants to engender himself with the King's grace," Steffon said, slyly. "Trevor Caron shall arrive in half a fortnight, I believe he wishes to bring his sons that they might participate in the tourney, and Lord Connington arrived yesterday. I was under the impression you were going to bring the party, brother," he added, lazily indicating the courtiers that had come with with the King.
He led the large party back into the gates, his knights falling into a column and marching in once the King and his entourage had entered. The gate remained open, for anyone else who would be arriving late, and Steffon paused briefly to greet Becca Thatcher as she passed by.
