As the riders turned a corner they say in front of them they saw a forest of false trees, clearly representing the giant oaks of the stormlands. As the contestants ride through Children Of the Forest (Men wearing appropriate masks) step out from behind the trees and swing poles at the riders.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 80 = 160 + 164 = 324 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 54 = 114 + 79 = 193 Lucas Templeton: 50 + 27 = 77 + 143 = 220 Marianne Baratheon: 70 + 6 = 76 + 88 = 164 Lord Barristan Dawnrose: 60 + 96 = 156 + 79 = 235 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 70 = 130 + 155 = 285 Ser Beric Dayne: 60 + 11 = 71 + 110 = 181 Sojen Manderly: 50 + 65 = 115 +113 = 228 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 8 = 78 + 106 = 174 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 70 = 130 + 80 = 210 Prince Maekar Targaryen, 40 + 99 = 139 + 133 = 272 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 78 = 138 + 137 = 275
Tybolt's lead wides, and he now has a whole length between him and Lord Rhaegar. Immediately behind Rhaegar is his cousin Maekar, and Robert Redfort.
They group passes through the fake trees, and some are struck by the poles. One shatters across Ladybright's back, and one came dangerously close to Marianne Baratheon.
Only Ser Beric Dayne is struck by a Child of the forest, and knocked off of his mount. Eliminating him from the race.

After the forest they are forced to cross a bridge over a large pond. Two men sit on either railing swing their poles at each contestant in turn.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 94 = 174 + 324 = 498 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 41 = 101 + 193 = 294 Lucas Templeton: 50 + 15 = 65 + 220 = 285 Marianne Baratheon: 70 + 76 = 146 + 164 = 310 Lord Barristan Dawnrose: 60 + 37 = 97 + 235 = 332 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 33 = 93 + 285 = 378 Sojen Manderly: 50 + 42 = 92 + 228 = 320 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 31 = 101 + 174 = 275 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 33 = 93 + 210 = 303 Prince Maekar Targaryen, 40 + 44 = 88 + 272 = 360 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 66 = 126 + 275 = 401
Ser Tybolt flashes by the attackers on the bridge they do not even swing their poles at the night. One of them catches Lord Rhaegar, it does not knock him off his mount, but he staggers and that allows Robert Redfort to slide past him into second place. Three lengths behind Wylde.
As Templton passes he is struck hard on the side of his head, and spins off his mount into the pond splashing Mors Ladybright as he passes close behind.

The next obstacle are several shallow pits dug in the track. A rider must leap them, or spend precious seconds going around them. On the far side of the pits lie the armed Children ready to knock anyone who avoids leaping over the pit.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 6 = 86 + 498 = 584 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 69 = 129 + 294 = 423 Marianne Baratheon: 70 + 56 = 126 + 310 = 436 Lord Barristan Dawnrose: 60 + 31 = 91 + 332 = 423 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 28 = 88 + 378 = 466 Sojen Manderly: 50 + 4 = 54 + 320 = 374 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 23 = 93 + 275 = 368 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 37 = 97 + 303 = 400 Prince Maekar Targaryen, 40 + 18 = 58 + 360 = 418 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 60 = 120 + 401 = 521
Tybolt's steed does not quit make the jump, and he is slowed as his mount stumbles. Redfort's perfect leap causes him to make up valuable ground. Rhaegar holds on to third but just barely.
Prince Maekar's horse veers hard right not wanting to leap the pit, and he is struck so hard he flips from his mount easily. Jojen's mount was following behind the princes, and he is forced even further to the right, and also struck knocking him from his own mount and on to the muddy earth.

They approach a hill, and top it easily. Thats when the Children hiding just the other of the crest leap up and swing. They ride down the zig-zagging path on the way down the steep decline.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 30 = 110 + 584 = 690 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 50 = 110 + 423 = 533 Marianne Baratheon: 70 + 41 = 111 + 436 = 546 Ser Barristan Dawnrose: 60 + 7 = 67 + 423 = 490 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 72 = 132 + 466 = 598 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 30 = 100 + 368 = 468 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 81 = 141 + 400 = 541 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 45 = 105 + 521 = 626
Lord Rhaegar makes up some ground on the two men in front of him, but Tybolt still holds the lead by a two horse lengths.
Lord Mors is so far back he is the only one to see a child rise up out of the dirt, and strike Ser Barriston hard with his wooden pole. The Knight falls backward, but does not release his hold on the reigns, he and his mount fall backwards together, and it is not til he is under the beast that Barriston's hand let go of the reins, they two roll down the hill together, but separated.

The course turns again, and they are rushing through wheat that rises above the heads of their mounts. Only the large replicas of the hightower jutting out of the grass allow them to follow the course. This time the attacks of the children are completely undetectable until their pole is winging at your face or body.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 34 = 114 + 690 = 804 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 71 = 151 + 533 = 684 Marianne Baratheon: 70 + 24 = 94 + 546 = 640 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 79 = 139 + 598 = 737 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 73 = 143 + 468 = 611 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 89 = 149 + 541 = 690 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 94 = 154 + 626 = 780
Robert Redfort moves closer, and clsoer to Wylde, but Tybolt manages to maintain his lead. Mors can see the shapely rear of Marianne Baratehon, and just make out ahead of her more of the pack.
Then a pole launches out of the wheat to strike Marianne, and knock her from her mount into the thick wheat. Mors continues one focused on the others.

The racers enter another false wood, but instead of oaks, these trees have faces painted on them. And instead of their attackers being on the ground, they attack out of the trees themselves.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 30 = 110 + 804 = 914 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 55 = 115 + 684 = 799 Lord Rhaegar Targaryen: 60 + 15 = 75 + 737 = 812 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 92 = 162 + 611 = 773 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 98 = 158 + 690 = 848 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 62 = 122 + 780 = 902
Wylde can feel Redfort gaining on him, but seems unable to urge his mount any faster. Robert urges his mount eager to win this now, and swiftly.
Lord Rhaegar had slipped a spot, and then did not see the pole that took him in the chest, until he was lifted bodily out of his hose's saddle. He crashed to the ground, and knocked over a fake Heart Tree.

They turn the corner and race for the finish. There are hundreds of the children along either side of the track, but as the riders approach they raise their poles and salute, never attacking.
Ser Tybolt Wylde: 80 + 73 = 153 + 914 = 1067 Ser Howard Thorne: 60 + 70 = 130 + 799 = 929 Ser Mors Ladybright: 70 + 61 = 131 + 773 = 934 Lord Jon Redfort: 60 + 94 = 154 + 848 = 1002 Ser Robert Redfort 60 + 53 = 113 + 902 = 1015
Ser Wylde is able to win, and he leaped from his galloping mount and ran in a circle leaping about. He waited for Redfort to cross the line before lifting him out of the saddle, and clapping him on the back. "Well Done. Best race I have seen in ages."
Lord Redfort crossed right behind his kin, with Mors finally passing some one on the last instant, just beating Thorne.
The King jumped down out of the stands, and smiles, "So few of you made it that I insist that you survivors dine with me tonight at the Feast of the first men." He holds up a large purse, "This if for you alone though Tybolt. Well done." He under hands the purse easily to Wylde.
Wylde laughed, and handed it to Robert, "Take it man, I have no need of gold, my brother is too generous."

Ser Robert grinned and took the bag, "fortunate for me then that generosity is a trait shared by all of House Wylde. My thanks, good knight." He winked and pushed some of his sweat matted hair from his brow.

Why wasn't Joanna put into the contest? She should have been. I think I made a mistake in not listing the actual skills though but then no-one else had when I posted...
