"We're ready." The Traitors' Son told Corwyn from around the corner. Corwyn nodded and gave the signal to the two men at the wall, who threw up their grappling hooks. When they hit the two men pulled the ropes to check they were taught and Corwyn turned to his men. "Ned, Ren; you are up first." The two men nodded and were up the rope in an instant. "Karl and myself shall follow, Gowen and Will behind. The rest of you will stay down here, keep the area safe and cover our retreat." The men nodded and Corwyn was started climbing, Karl behind.
They had arrived at Kings Landing in the morning and had instantly known something to be wrong. Ren had gone in and returned an hour later, confirming that the Iron Born had sacked Kings Landing. Corwyn had almost given the order to return to Harrenhal but Ren then informed him that the nobility were held captive, among them Princess Alysanne and her son. Euric's son. So a plan quickly had been made, to sneak into the Red Keep and rescue the two. The Queen had apparently escaped the city on her dragon, taking some eggs with her. "That's right, get your own ass out and leave your sibling behind." It was pointless to be angry though.
As he reached the top, closely followed by Karl, Corwyn saw that the two that had gone up first had already taken out two Iron Born guards. "Sneak and grab, boys, let's go." Corwyn said as Gowen and Will arrived at the top and so they were off along the battlements of Kings Landing. Quietly and swiftly the crept, Corwyn taking out another guard with his bow. It had been a risky shot but the arrow had struck the man's throat and he died without making a noise. Soon the group was in the city, sneaking past burned down buildings and still smoking shops.
"At least the stink is gone." Ned whispered as they ducked out of site behind a wall when a group of drunk Irom Born passed them. "It always returns." Corwyn commented, before they were off again. As they approached the Red Keep a noise was heard to the right and all of a sudden the group of Irom Born were beside them. They were eight and within an instant battle was joined. Corwyn dodged an attack and rammed his one of his daggers into his opponents groin; another's throat he slashed and a few moments later silence reigned again in the streets of the city. The group quickly dispatched the bodies in a ruin and look up at the walls of the Red Keep. "Get the hooks ready." Corwyn said and Ned and Ren took off their back packs. "Where do you think they are?" Karl asked quietly. "I don't know." Corwyn replied with a tense shrug. "But we'll find them."
