"Lord Royce," Rowan says approaching, "I thought your army would be headed North towards the Vale? Is there a problem of some sort that I need to relay to the Queen?" the storm lord asks carefully.

"We are going to the Coronation. Heading North would be in the wrong direction now wouldn't it." Brynden snorted, "Does this have something to do with your talks with Lannister?"

Rowan nodded, "I thought he would have told you. . . there are some who raised concerns about the troop numbers, and while the Queen's law is a bit confusing her intent was that while Lords could maintain their own protection inside the capital they could not be ordered by their Lord Paramount to march with 100 men. Since tensions are high, I was hoping that the tournament would be limited to each region's forty best warriors and that Lord's maintain a smaller presence then they normally would if they traveled on their own."

"My Lord are just following the Queens original declaration. If you have not noticed, I am not a liegeman of Lannister, and when I got a message asking me to send home some of my Lords men, I told him fuck off." Royce replied, "Now if the Queen is asking this, I can tell my men to send their men back." He frowned.

Rowan nodded, "I understand and am sorry about the confusion, the Queen does in fact ask it," Rowan said with a nod, "did you receive Lord Baratheon's letter that the queen has chosen him for her hand?"

"Lannister mentioned it. Fine. If the queen does not trust me, I shall return home." Brynden turned and motioned over one of his knights. "Tell the lords that only eight of them can continue on, the rest must turn about. The Queen's Orders."
Brynden spat, and turned his horse. "Anything else from the girl?" he asked Trant.

Rowan shook his head, "Its not the most well conceived law I'll admit. . . but it is the law and it applies to all people it was not designed to persecute you, Lord Royce," Rowan says.
"The queen also requires that you attend her coronation, it would not be the same without the support of her uncle's husband, and I know that there are others that look forward to seeing you again."

Royce stared at Trant, "Has she changed the fucking laws again?" He spat. "Fuck her." Riding over to his master at arms, he roared, "Take all the men home, I am putting my trust in the Queen." Brynden turned his horse around and alone began to ride for King's Landing.

Rowan doesn't say anything but rides along with Lord Royce for awhile. After some time passes he starts to say something and then stops. He looks at Lord Royce and then sighs.

After some more time passes, Rowan finally breaks down, "May I ask you a question Lord Royce?"

Lord Royce grunted in reply, it could be taken for permission.

"When you jousted, did you prefer the underhanded slide or the spider crawl for holding your reigns, my father said 'that the underhanded was simplest and easiest to get a horse to respond to' but I had heard the spider crawl allowed more control in the final seconds before impact," Rowan says asking the Legendary Knight.

"It always depended on my opponent." Brynden replied, he turned to look at the young knight, "I am no politician, but my old instincts think that was a feint simply to draw me out."
