Ragnor chuckles. "My kind aren't much known for our interest in appearances, past the appearance of a pretty girl we might spot on a raid. Let them say I want to join Lannister's camp, that I'm a Queen's man through and through, or that I just came here to see our beautiful ruler a bit more. Makes no difference to me."

"As you will, then," said Rhaenys, though she was secretly pleased by his words. "Does your wife know you have come to 'see your beautiful ruler?'"

"She has her suspicions. Didn't want her overly worried about me going to Gulltown and consorting with Lannister and his ilk, but where else would I be going? Besides, her concern now is the boy, and setting Pyke to rights."

"is that not your concern to?" Rhaenys asked. "Or are you one of those lords who is content to leave such matters in his wife's hands?"
She seemed to be looking on him with some measure of interest and, possibly, approval.

"It is, of course. But the boy can, for the most part, wait until he's old enough to walk and sail. And Pyke is not in so very sorry a state, it can manage for the time being. I can just say, 'The Queen insisted I stay a bit longer on important business,' and there will be no issue. Besides, we've hardly spoken, do you want me rushing off with us hardly even having gotten acquainted?"

Rhaenys grinned.
"Not at all. I merely wished to understand why you have acted as you did. t pleases me that you are the kind of man who understands that womem are more than capable of ruling lands and catles. I have no patience with the other kind."

Ragnor makes no effort to correct her misconception. "It's a fool that thinks a woman has no use at all. Or, at least, who tells his queen such."

"Well, yes. On that we can agree."
She smiled, relaxed.
"I congratulate you on your forthcoming child. It seems you are blessed."

"Thank you. I hope for another son, while Ganieda would seem to prefer a daughter. Nothing wrong with a daughter, of course, just want the line to be secure. I had two elder brothers that died young, so I have some concern." Ragnor smirks a bit. "I suppose I could take a salt wife or two, safety in numbers and all that."

"I think your wife woudl consider that a grievous insult," Rhaenys commented. "I hope you will be blessed with many sons and daughters. I understand your desire for another son but I think you would enjoy having a daughter too."

"She might, but what's to stop me? You think I didn't hear the rumors about her, distant though I was? Turnabout is fair play, is it not?"

Rhaenys had heard the rumorus too but had resolved to put them aside.
"Well, perhaps, but I hope you will at least be discreet. I consider your wife a friend and I do not wish to see either one of you put to any trouble through marital discord."

"Of course. I can keep a secret better than her." He gets a roguish grin on his face. "The question may cost me my head, but what about you? Any secret lovers?"

Instead of being angry, Rhaenys laughed
"No, of course not. I'm too b usey to take a lover, even if I wanted to."

"Too busy? What's there to it? Find a man you like the look of, and take an hour or two every now and then to pay a visit. Hardly any time at all."
