"I can help you achieve your goals my queen it would be an honor. But I would need a reason to spend so much time in King's Landing." Frey said simply

[Marie]

"Oh yes? There's no seats on my Small Council and I'm not willing to depose anyone at present," Rhaenys said. "But still, something may be possible. What talents do you possess?"

[The Flint]

Frey smiled, "I have many talents your grace, but what does it matter if you are not willing to consider me for a position of worth?"

[Marie]

"I canont igve you what does not exist," she said. "That is why I wondered if you would be suitable for some other position instead."

[The Flint]

"I hesitate to name any position, for you will simply fill it, and than proclaim that I may not request it as it is filled," Frey said, in mock hurt.

[Marie]

"i won't," she said. "The Small Council was already appointed before I came to the Vale. I cannot replace anyone simply to please you."

[The Flint]

Frey twitched his nose back and forth, "It's not simply to please me, your grace, its to reward your good friend. Is Musgood such a good friend that you had needs reward him?"

[Marie]

"He is Selwyn's sworn man and I needed someone competent to be my Master of Coin," Rhaenys answered. "That is all that matters."

[The Flint]

"So now I'm incompetent!" Frey said, fluttering his hand in front of his face as if the thought would bring tears.

[Marie]

"I did nto say that," Rhaenys answered. "I did not know you had any talents in that area and it was natural for me to choose someone who served Selwyn so well all these years."

[The Flint]

Frey folded his hands in his lap again, "Your grace has given away all the choice assignments to old friends, and wonders why she has so much trouble making new ones." he made a "tsk tsk" sound.

[Marie]

"I would have thought the Paramountcy of the Vale would be enough to win me your friendship." Rhaenys said pointedly. "You can't expect to be granted too many other favours with that under your belt."

[The Flint]

Frey looked at the Queen, "Honestly, your grace, I owe that as much to Lord Lannister as to you, after all, he did the negotiating," Frey smiled, "and in any case, the situation was quite different then, as you will agree. That coin bought you entrance south, and it was coin well spent, was it not?"

[Marie]

"It was," Rhaenys agreed. "Nevertheless, it is difficult to find some other pledge of friendship you might accept."

[The Flint]

"I've told your grace what I was interested in, and you dismissed it out of hand," Frey replies.
