"They are well," Duncan says, and he smiles, for he enjoys speaking about his children. "Andrey is a knight now, and already stronger than his father. Soon I'll have to send Lucian off to squire for a good knight. And Audrey is a woman grown. So much like her mother was."
Duncan realized he'd have to find a husband for her soon, and the thought unsettled him a little. His brow creases, and he looks at Ryam with new eyes. It wouldn't be a bad match.
"And your... family? Are they well?" Duncan recalled Fowler was unmarried, though he couldn't remember if he had any siblings or cousins.

"Nesira and Cercie are well, as is our mother," Ryam spoke after a sip from his bottle. "It would be foolish to say that they do not grieve yet still, but they are of the delicate sex and it is to be expected." News of the late Lord Fowler had come south with the returning army, and though it was not a unanticipated, word of his death still weighed heavily on his widow and daughters.

Corwyn quickly walks up to the leaving princess. "Your grace, where are you going?"

"I'm going for a walk with the prince." she answered.

Corwyn frowned. "Are you sure you will be safe?"

Alysanne raised an eyebrow at the prince. "Will I?"

Aldric stared ice at Corwyn, "Of course."

Corwyn's frown deepened. "I will expect her back within the hour; if not, we'll come looking for her." He turned and walked back to his chair.

News of the late Lord Fowler had come south with the returning army, and though it was not a unanticipated, word of his death still weighed heavily on his widow and daughters. Duncan nods sympathetically, though he decides that 'delicate' is the last adjective he would use to describe a Dornishwoman. "My condolences," Toland says. "Your father was a brave man." Duncan did not know the senior Lord Fowler, but it seemed like the right thing to say. "We'll soon have need of more men like him if half the rumors are true."

A heavy brow rose skyward. "What rumors?" Ryam asked, bluntly.
After a moment, he leaned in and confessed with a taut frown, "I haven't been away from Skyreach since the Dornish marched north returned. The lay of things political is lost to me."

Duncan shrugs. "I am not the man you want to talk to for an analysis of politics. But I did have word from a merchant captain out of Gulltown recently. It seems near every Lord Paramount in the realm is gathering in the Vale. Some say they mean to rebel against the Queen."

Ryam says nothing at that last sentence, but gives an ambiguously derisive snort.
"I do not doubt that Dorne will come out ahead of any conflict that may arise," the Lord of Skyreach declared.

Ryam's confidence does little to change Duncan's mood. "I pray so, Lord Fowler. I had hoped to find Princess Aurora here in Sunspear. Now that I find she is away I have a mind to seek her out in the Vale."

"The Vale," Ryam repeats, absentmindedly smoothing down the hairs on his chin. "I imagine Princess Aurora will have a voice in whatever gathering takes place. She ought need goodly lords about her, being so far off and away."

Duncan grunts. "I doubt Her Highness will be swayed in whatever decision she makes by the likes of you or I. Still, I plan to travel north soon. My ship has room enough for a passenger if that is your intent as well."
