"Greetings Prince Aegon." Jarren said, nodding to him.
"I am of a like mind, Oswell, however Lord Mallister seems far too stubborn, I have heard he isn't even willing to bend the knee to a Targaryen, much less a woman." He said, a glint in his eye.

Oswell laughed, "What you hear is true enough. He refused to fight alongside her and the whole time we spoke he only referred to her as 'King's wife'. He at least sent some of his men with her when she went south to Harrenhal but if I ere king I would declare him in open rebellion. He is bitter over losing the Paramountship."

Jarren chuckled. "That sounds like the same old stubborn Mallister I remember from before..." He took a minute to think. "Well, in the Riverlands, the Freys, Mallisters, Tullys, and Blackwoods are the ones decently fit for rule. The Freys are blathering idiots, the Mallisters are horribly ignorant, and Riverrun is run down but I do not know if that infringes on rulership..."

Oswell glances at the lord, "Are you trying to say that I am unfit to rule from a ruined castle my lord, or simply that you wish to be Lord Paramount?"

Jarren laughs. "I think you know which of the two I am hinting at." His smile faded away as he continued.
"The Blackwoods ruled for many good years before Horas got it taken away from us. We served ably in the past, and are capable of doing so again. In fact the only Riverlands house in recent memory to have stable rule, no offense meant to your grandfather."

"No offense is taken, my grandfather was not the best ruler. Anyone will tell you that. Were I in a position to take control of the Riverlands I would, do not doubt that. I am not the man my gradnfather was and would serve well, but I have other plans at the moment. House Blackwood has ever been a truly stable house, perhaps it is time you brought the rule back to Raventree Hall. But you still have the matter of Lord Frey to deal with. How do you suppose to do that?"

"All good things come in due time, Oswell. I mean to meet with Mallister and try to sway him in our direction. Beyond that, we will have to see. Perhaps showing that Frey is incapable of handling the rulership."

"Everyone knows Frey is incapable of handling rulership, but we had no choice but to give it to him. Do not be offended, but whom to you swear allegiance to my lord? Are you a Queen's man, like myself, or do you instead ignore her claim in favor of Lord Selwyn?"

"It is King Selwyn, mind you, but Queen Rhaenys shall be the one to sit the Iron Throne. They both have my allegiance. Does that answer suit you well enough, Lord Tully?"

Oswell nods, "It was never a matter of what suited me or not. I simply want to know about the men I fight and plot with. Lord Mallister refused to recognize the Queen, and so he is in his current position. I understand it is not in some men to kneel to a woman, but they must understand that Selwyn will not take the throne, he does not even want it. He has knelt, even married our knew Queen. I serve her as faithfully as I would have he. I only meant to know your ideals my lord."

"Quite alright, it is hard to be sure of anyone's allegiance these days." He finished as a scout came up to say they had come up on Dustwind.
