Talyn took the note and laid it aside. "I thank you ser. You fought like a demon yesterday, by the way. I was so envious." He smiled.

"Thank you Ser; though honestly, I was quite afraid of dying." He tapped the blade on his back. "This certainly helped, and the need to stay alive."

Talyn nodded, "A damnable shame they don't have Valyrian steel flails," he laughed a little, but than it hurt. "I used to think that it was better to have no fear of death. Thats what I did for five long years. Go into the jaws of death looking for it, and she seems to leave you alone. But now that I have someone to leave behind... It is not the same. I think it was this hesitation which hurt me."

"In battle I found myself thinking of nothing but Alysanne. I thought that if I came to any harm so would she... I guess that was what drove me on. But I understand what you mean... It can be hard when there is always something you want to protect."

"That's why the cultists fought so bloodily. They have nothing left to lose. It is hard to see how farmer boys with pretty girls waiting for them at home can go up against things like that and win."

"I can't even imagine how a cult like this could come into existence... how can one leave all moral's behind and devote oneself to such fiendish things at the cult did."

Talyn shrugged, "That I cannot say. Probably different reasons. Some for power, some for a love of wickedness. There is evil in the world, that I can tell you for certain."

"And I guess it is our job to vanquish it, just like in the stories old septa's tell the lordling's daughter?" Euric asked with a laugh. "I guess there could be worse things to do."

Talyn shrugged, "Can it be vanquished? We just fought off the end of the world, and yet the next day, it was the same treachery, backstabbing and petty jealousies. Perhaps it is a matter of simply paddling for as long as you can before it sucks you down." he smiled softly.

"If it is so I wish I were a pessimist. That would make everything so much easier." Euric said after a moment. "No matter, we are stuck with it and so we deal with it as best as we can. I'd best get some rest myself." He took a step back and gave Talyn an appreciative nod. "I hope you get well soon." With that he left.

Talyn nodded and let the Sword of the Morning go.

Aegon looked down at Blackfyre with some pity. He had never liked the man, but he did respect courage. And the man had been grievously wounded fighting for their cause. "I am sorry to see that cousin. You were lucky not be killed yourself, from what I hear. I only wish you had availed yourself of the services of myself and my men." "I couldn't," Rhaenys answered. "My instructions were to take only one hundred men. I would have brought you too, if I could have, but I couldn't have taken your men. They'd likely have been shot dead for fulfilling the terms. and Kyma and I might have ended up dead too. We lived, though. That is what matters."

"I am pleased to hear Kyma lives too. Still I can only hope she is sorry for having put so many men's lives in danger by running off as she did."

Rhaenys hoped that too but she knew Kyma was a loose cannon Still, she'd not say so to Aegon, especially since she hadn't been granted a moment with her truant sister yet.
"I'm sure she is," seh said confidently. "Aegon, how do my new followers fare? I have yet to meet them."

"Well enough." Aegon replied. "They are paid well and appear to be content. Disappointed to have missed the fight here though."
