"I wait to speak with Selwyn before making any decision. But I think it unwise to let a Targaryen reign again." Brynden sighed, "Saella was kin was well. And I worry her daughters will take my home away from me." "Saella was Rhodri Arryn's daughter, was she not? I misremember my history lessons, that always was a murky family tree." Aaron said. Selwyn had been standing quietly, listening to his kin speak, before he spoke up suddenly. "Ser Iuon at the Bloody Gate said Lord Howland and his sons were all killed. What will become of Runestone?"

Brynden shook his head, "We do not know yet. I have given little thought to it."

"I suppose that is for the King to decide. Do you have any word on when he will arrive? He sent us down here by sea under Lord Tully, to try to flank Thatcher as Selwyn's wife came down to Harrenhal with a force of 100 to get back her kidnapped sister. He was supposed to follow her with the army, I think, but we have been at sea so my sense of time and distance seems a little skewed," Aaron said, with a frown. "Are your hosts here to lay siege to Harrenhal and slay Thatcher, or to negotiate with him? I admit we were right surprised to find so many men with armies here."

Royce frowned, he leaned back in his seat. His eyes were challenging, but his mouth clamped shut. Mallister opened his mouth and pointed a finger accusingly, "It is all about the grabbing of power. Silly girl, we will not support you." Eustace stood calmly, and took two steps forward and then knelt to Rhaenys. "How may I serve, my Queen." Mallister gaped at him in horror. Royce simply sighed. She felt no triumph at Lord Baratheon's homage, only worry that the others had not done likewise. She held out a hand. "Rise, Lord Baratheon, and know that I recognise you as one of my own. I would have you remain here for now, until my business is done at Harrenhall." "If you don't support me, Lord Mallister, the realm will bleed."

"We are here to support Selwyn, how ever he wants us to." The lord replied.

Mallister shook his head, "You are so completely outnumbered that if we wish to sweep you from the game we can do so easily."
Royce and Eustace cast Mallister a dark look.
Lord Rod sighed, and looked away from Rhae, "I apologize. We will not attack your forces." He grumped, "I just do not like being threatened." This he said to the other two lords.
Royce sighed, "Do not demean yourself with such talk. We are above it." He looked at Mallister and shook his head.

Do you think any of the Great Lords will be able to convince him to assume his birthright and rule as King? A Targaryen monarch can only mean trouble, as this realm has learned time and time again, at high cost. I can only pray that he realizes this before it is too late," Aaron said to his father. "How have Anya and Alayne fared, since I have been gone," he asked, turning the conversation to the sisters he had not seen in years.

"They are well." Brynden replied, his mouth crinkling down in thought. "They will want to see you."

Aaron chuckled slightly. "I'd feared Anya was still mad at me; the last time I saw her we had a right vicious row, when I told her she could not accompany me on campaign." His smile softened at the mention of the twin sister with whom he was very close, and he thought back fondly on their childhood in the Eyrie.

Brynden nodded vaguely, "If Selwyn can not be persuaded, I am at a loss as to what to do."

"Perhaps he will see reason, when he comes south. What are Lord Mallister and Baratheon's thoughts of the matter? I imagine you've all been in each other's company for a while now."

"They stand with me. But we can not go to war to raise a man who will not claim his seat." Brynden shook his head, "That is foolishness."

Come, my lords, there must be some way for us all to benefit from an alliance?"

Royce asked simply, "You propose an alliance?"

"Of course. I don't want to see more bloodshed than I must. I wnat to bring peace to the realm."
