Ser Aaron and his Valemen arrive at lord Horroway's town, and immediately seek an audience with his lord father, Brynden Royce. In the camp, they meet up with Ser Selwyn Stone who had arrived a few days prior, and the brothers set off for their father's pavilion. They are admitted to Lord Royce's Pavilion. Ser Aaron enters, with his brother Selwyn, and both young men smile at the sight of Lord Brynden. "How do you fare, father?" Aaron asked earnestly, going to where his father sat.

Brynden smiled at his sons, and said, "Well. It is good to see you whole, and in one peace. How do you fare?" He stood and move to them grabbing their forearms in welcome.

"Selwyn and I are of one mind," Rhaenys said. "We are sworn to marry, to defeat the Cult and bring peace to the realm. Selwyn has knelt to me. He accepts me as sovereign lady of Westeros. What is wrong with that?"

Aaron pulled his tunic down at the next to reveal the ugly scar that stretched across his throat and down over his collarbone. "The spoils of war," he said, gesturing, "but well otherwise. What has happened in the Vale since we left? Up north we recieved precious little news about what was taking place below the Neck."

What is wrong with that?" Mallister leaned back in his seat, in a disgusted grimace. Eustace placed his head on his fist and said, "I will not make any judgments until I speak with my brother." Lord Royce leaned forward, "Will you always do what is best for the realm, Rhaenys of Targaryen?"

"It took time and blood to scrape the Others and their wights out of the Vale. And it might not have been possible with out Mallister and Eustace." Brynden replied.

"How many lords survived the fighting? I know other kingdoms have more than one House that has been completely extinguished, and many others whose entire male lines are destroyed. Is Thatcher in Harrenhal still, and does he control the capital?" Ser Aaron looked rather sheepish for having bombarded his father with questions like a child, but he needed to know so many things.
"Have you had any word from his grace, concerning the Targaryen Princesses?"

Brynden replied.

"I will always do what I thnk best for the realm," Rhaenys told Lord Royce. "If five of your Lords Paramount demand that Selwyn actually command the kingdom, and you be queen as custom dictates, what shall you do?" Royce asked. Mallister studied Rhae out of the corner of his eye, feigning disinterest. Eustace watched her unabashed, his gaze occasionally drifting to her feminine attributes.

Lord Baratheon's interest was flattering and she might have smiled back, if Royce hadn't asked her a question she hadn't wanted to answer.
"I will not be a mere figurehead," Rhaenys said. "Lord Selwyn is my Hand and I hope we will work together for many years to come, but that is the key. I will not sit about in a castle and do nothing."

Royce frowned, he leaned back in his seat. His eyes were challenging, but his mouth clamped shut.
Mallister opened his mouth and pointed a finger accusingly, "It is all about the grabbing of power. Silly girl, we will not support you."
Eustace stood calmly, and took two steps forward and then knelt to Rhaenys. "How may I serve, my Queen."
Mallister gaped at him in horror. Royce simply sighed.

"And the King?" Aaron prompted. His expression was guarded, and he felt strange speaking to the father he had not seen in years. "Selwyn has pledged to marry this Rhaenys, and to kneel to her as the ruling Queen of Westeros. Her dragons are crippled and virtually unable to do battle; I see no reason for him to have knelt. Saella Targaryen was a savior and a conqueror but her daughter possesses no ability at statecraft. From what I could tell, she is a woman who does her best to appear to rule, while actually she is incapable of making most decisions herself. One of her Small Councillors was murdered in the woods near Winterfel, the Master of Whisperers was taken to the cells and then released, and the "queen" seemed to have no backbone when dealing with anyone."

"I wait to speak with Selwyn before making any decision. But I think it unwise to let a Targaryen reign again." Brynden sighed, "Saella was kin was well. And I worry her daughters will take my home away from me."
