"Very well. Anything else you'd like us to do?" Borcas asked, turning to Saenerys, hoping he didn't mind he spoke first.

Saenarys smiled. He would have to invite his new lieutenant out for a tankard after this business adjourned. He allowed Borcas to ask the question.
"Otherwise, may we take our leave?" He suffixed.

"Go and talk to the men, please," she said. "Present yourselves as their new leaders and let them know that their loyalty will not be forgotten. And don't worry about Maekar feeling slighted, I have something else in mind for him."

Borcas simply nodded, waiting for Saenarys to answer.

//// Ser Aerys Velaryon arrives seeking an audience with the Queen. He states he is from his master Prince Aegon Targaryen. He was allowed in, but only with two White Swords and a dozen of his former comrades in attendance on the queen, besides her personal maid, lady in waiting and squire. Rhaenys was attired in velvet tunic and breeches trimmed with fur. She greeted him coolly. "Ser Aerys, have you come to forsake the service of Aegon Targaryen and to bend the knee to me?"

"Aye, sister, we will give it our all."

"Good."
She hugged first Saenarys and then Borcas.
"May the Warrior be with you both."

Rhaenys was attired in velvet tunic and breeches trimmed with fur. She greeted him coolly. "Ser Aerys, have you come to forsake the service of Aegon Targaryen and to bend the knee to me?" Aerys bowed low. "Your Grace. I have served Prince Aegon all his life and his father Rhaegar Targaryen before him. He has treated me well and justly in all that time. So no, I am not here to forsake him. I am here at his bequest to inform you that he has brought 300 extra men to your cause."

It took all the queen's willpower not to stare in amazement.
"Three hundred men? Where did Aegon get three hundred men, and why did he have to 'desert' to do it?"

Aerys replied.
"The Prince had to leave the environs of Winterfell briefly to collect the men. Doing so is now labelled 'desertion'?"

She gave him an exasperated look.
"It wouldn't be, if Aegon had told me where he was going, but he abandoned our cause, taking with him thirty of my own men. I admit that I told Aegon he could stay or go, as he pleased, but he did commit an act of gross insubordination and the fact of the matter is that he incited my men to mutiny. That is a more severe crime than desertion and it does carry the death penalty. After I relieved him of his post, which just compounds the crime. No, ser, tell Aegon that he must come back here at once, with or without his extra men and he will bend the knee. If he does not, my lords bannermen will call for me to take steps against Aegon."

Aerys bowed again.
"Yet you did dismiss him Your Grace. And yes you did tell him to stay or go as he pleased. I was present if you remember. Surely you cannot blame Prince Aegon for taking you at your word.
"If it may please you, and so I can explain your words clearly to Prince Aegon, could you please explain the gross act of insubordination that was committed? He also may be a little confused at why you think he abandoned your cause, when he camped only a little way off from the main column, after you dismissed him and then brings you 300 men. The Prince may rightly ask...what was he supposed to do in the wake of his dismissal?"
"And mutiny too? How so Your Grace? Some of your men followed Aegon no doubt, but the Prince needed men to help him recruit and collect the 300 men before they moved south to Moat Caitlin. Aegon is of course a doughty fighter and impressive battle commander and a royal Targaryen to boot. It's no wonder that some of the men questioned his seemingly sudden arbitrary dismissal...especially over what appears to be the trivial issue of a marriage. The men were also concerned that their commander - a man they respected - had been replaced with someone who had no experience in warfare at all. Soldiers follow those who they respect - and they respect the Prince. However there was no question of acting against you - and I believe that's what a 'mutiny' entails...Your Grace."
Aerys gave another short bow to indicate that he had finished speaking.

She had to grit her teeth a moment before she trusted herself to speak.
"I will not explain myself to you, Ser Aerys. If Aegon wishes to talk over the situation, we can do it in person, but he must come to me. I would be happy to write a letter confirming such if you think it necessary,"

Aerys bent his head in acquiesence.
"Very well Your Grace."
