Rhaneys looked uncomfortable as he met Tyberion's eye. She knew he was as aware as she that Lady Stark was misinformed.
"Lord Selwyn is not handsome, alas, but he is certainly strong and brave and loyal. He is badly scarred, Lady Stark, but he bears his trials with great fortitude. I am more fortunate than one might suppose upon first sighting him."

Lady Stark smiled warmly, "I can understand. There is something appealing in a man who has sacrificed so much for the realm." She looked to Tyberion, "I understand the attraction completely your grace. Men can be strong and dominant in such a wonderful fashion." She giggled.

Rhaenys nodded, though she was puzzled by her feelings for Selwyn. She had not wanted to marry him and had no romantic feelings for hiim at all but somehow, when they were alone, he managed to make her feel things that he shouldn't have been able to make her feel.
"You have the right of it, truly, though women such as you and I cannot allow men to dominate us...not often anyway," she said with a grin. "We must be both women and rulers, not an easy thing to do in a man's world. I hope you will allow me to offer you my full support, Lady Beatrice. Any problems you face will likely mirror my own."

Beatrice nodded and spoke, "I have no male kin, but I wish to rule the North. Would you grant me that wish, my Queen. I wish so to be like you."

Rhaenys had to smile. She was not used to that kind of thing being said to her.
"I would not take your lands away from you just because you are female. I'd be a hypocrite if I did that. I want to help you keep your lands, Beatrice. Have you loyal men to defend you?"

"I do. Men who have risked their life to keep me safe since the first snows." Beatrice replied, "I am Lady Stark, and as such all of the North belongs to me. I kneel and pledge their service and swords to you, Queen Targaryen." She knelt and took Rhaenys hand and kissed it.
Lord Tyberion simply licked his lips like a lion enjoying a fat, defenseless lamb.

Rhaenys smiled and lifted the girl to her feet then kissed her cheek.
"House Targaryen recognises your loyalty and confirms you as Lady of Winterfell and the North for all the days of your life so long as you are loyal to my house."
She then looked to Lord Tyberion. Something had been troubling her.
"Lord Lannister, might I have a private word?"

Lord Tyberion nodded solemnly, "Yes of course your grace."
