Kyma glares at him hard, and mouths the word "tag-along". Then she points at a tree stump. "Something to sit on while you cut it." She dismounts and holds out her reigns.

Talyn dismounted and took the horse by the reins, leading it over to the stump. Talyn gestured for the princess to sit, and drew a long bladed dagger from a sheath on his waist.
"I'll do my best your highness, but if you will hate me for this, do me a favor and hit me before we get started, rather than after when I'm not expecting it."

"Stop being such a fool. I am not going to hit you for trying to help me." Kyma took a deep breath, "Thank you, and please... please do as best as you can." She closes her eyes tight.

Talyn took her hair in his fingers, and ran it through it several times, before he began to cut, doing his best to make even cuts despite the sawing of the blade.
"I'm sorry your.. Lianna. It was a failed attempt at levity."

"I do not think of myself as vain. But my hair is what always set my aside from my sisters." Kyma replied, "I am more nervous then I like admitting. I will go back to being vicious in a moment."

Talyn smiled to himself, "It is still a beautiful shade of red, there is just less of it," he says, yanking her head back as he cuts so that he is practically looking her in the eye.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he says rapidly, "I hope that didn't hurt."

Kyma glared at him directly in the eye, but even as her mouth opened the compliment and the apology make her mouth shout. She looked at him like he was tricking her. "That is all right." She looked into his eyes and then lowered her head. "It did not hurt at all.

"That is good," he says, He ran his palm across her head, feeling her scalp beneath her now much shorter hair, shaking loose hair off onto the ground.
"We're done now, Lianna."

Kyma stood and touched her hair, and shivered. "I am going to need new clothes. I do not suppose you or your men have something in my size?" She walked back to her horse, "I will have to fix something probably." She winced, "I am not as good with the needle as I should be."

Talyn nodded. "Yes. You can take my cloak for now. It's cold, it would be reasonable that I might have given it to you, and it will cover up any... princess attire in the mean time." Talyn took the heavy black riding cloak off, and put it over the woman's shoulders. "We can ride when you are ready."

Kyma pulled his cloak on tight and mounted again. Suddenly she glared at Talyn, "What do camp tag-alongs do all day?" From the darkening light in her eyes, Talyn is able to guess her suspicion.

Talyn sighed, he seemed to be terrible at lying to this woman. "There isn't really such a thing as a camp...tag-along. They are usually called camp followers. They may cook or clean for the men, help set up tents, to help herd animals, although since we're in the van we carry our rations, mostly dried sausage and the like," He said, trying to bury the issue in extraneous details, "or they do other things."

Kyma snarled, "Well we will have to find a job for me that I am capable of. Because I am not, absolutely not, doing other things" She jabbed her finger at him in warning, "And if you thought I was Talyn, you are a bigger fool then you look."

"I didn't think any such thing, you're the one who brought it up," Talyn said angrily, "I'm trying to help you, because as you said on the road, you're a woman alone on the road, and i'm a knight. You don't have to keep questioning my motives." he handed the woman the reins to the grey horse, and than mounted his own.
"I try to keep a handle on my men, but soldier's camps can be dicey places. So even if you aren't doing Other things, it might be better to let them think you are. If they think you're my woman, it'll keep grubby hands off you. But don't worry, your virtue doesn't have anything to fear from me."

Kyma stared at him, a single eyebrow climbing her brow, "What would that entail? And I will admit you seem to have slightly more sense then you average man." She snorted and added, "Of course your average man has the same sense as a half brained sheep."
