Lord Simon Tarly leads the Far Reach knights, those of them that are left, and sends pages to summon the Lords Corbray, Karstark, and Tully and to tell them to have their men ready to begin marching by dawn. They will comprise the first half of the Army of the Ever-Night's main column, to begin marching back down to the Wall. He sends the Far Reach scouts out to establish contact with the Vanguard, as they start upon the long road home.

Lord Corbray got the message and organized his men. They all left by dawn. Lord Corbray was at the front of the Vale column. On the back stood Motho with his deadly axe. On the right flank was Anne stone with her longsword and on the left one Maester Perestan with his staff an candle ready.

A thin young man wearing riding leathers beneath a thick wolf cloak approaches the command section riding. He gives a salute but does not dismount.
"Message for Lord Selwyn, from Ser Talyn milord," he says to whichever of Selwyn's Companions is available.

Ser "Long" Jess Dunn rode up and rubbed at his red rimmed eyes. He grumped, "Whats the thrice damned message?"

"Sorry ser, thousand pardons, ser, but Ser Talyn, he's been interviewing the commanders leading men up to meet us. Uh... Let me see.. Um... bare bones. Vanguard strength now about 850. Lord Bolton's men and some uhmmm, men of the Night's Watch commanded by a Ranger Fischer. They report the Wall is held by four thousand men, with additional civil--, umhmmm, non- , how you say, um... people who don't fight? Lord Bolton reports that the Cult holds Moat Cailin." The boy was skittish and rocked back and forth in the saddle nervousily as he relayed his message.

Dunn swore, and rubbed at his temple, "Slow down, my head fucking aches. 850? Fuck." He spat, and breathed out deep. "Keep it going. Slowly, we have too many fucking wounded back here. You might as well send the Lord back, Selwyn wants to speak with him." He licked his lips and groaned.

"Yes ser I'll slow down ser," He says, although the boy doesn't but continues jabbering at a break neck pace, "...that shouldn't be a problem, i wouldn't think ser, I'll let Ser Talyn know what your message was, and I'm sure, ser, that he'll send Lord Bolton back for Lord Selwyn to meet with him. Him being Lord Bolton. Is there anything else I should tell him, Ser while I'm telling him to go slow and that Selwyn wants to speak with Bolton? Ser."

"Talk fucking softer." Dunn groaned, he knuckled his red rimmed eyes.

"yes ser sorry ser, forgive me, I'll not be as loud as before." Jax, whose mouth had earned him the nickname "Quick" said, in a voice barely above a whisper, but still so rapid that one was forced to strain to separate one word from the next. "Also, ser, the ranger, Fischer, says he's worried about the army leaving the Wall undefended ser. I donno if thats important, but figured I'd let you know, so you could let Lord Selwyn know, what Ranger Fischer was thinking. About the Wall. And its defense. Anyway... umhmm.. that's all I have ser, so I'll be going now." the boy salutes smartly, and than turns his horse, galloping away as he holds on to the reins for dear life.

//////////
Lord Oswell Tully leads what is left of his men, walking beside his men. Horses were few and far between and so he had told his men that the horses they had found were to be used for the wounded and those unable to walk.
Ser James and Ser Cleos walk to either side of him, all three wear the colors of House Tully, all splattered with dried mud.

After walking in silence for a time Oswell mounts his charger. "Keep them moving James," he says and rides off in search of Lord Tarly.
After riding up the line for a short time he comes across him. "My lord, how are you fairing on this accursed march?"

"Tully," Simon responded, with a slight nod of his head. "Thus far all seems to be well, though I daresay few of us would be surprised to see another army of the dead bursting in on us from all sides. His gr- Lord Selwyn commanded that I not allow us to be attacked while on the march, and I do not intend to. I trust your Rivermen will be ready for battle, should the need arise?" he asked, without looking at the Lord of Riverrun. Tarly's eyes scanned the forest around them, as well as the foggy path down which they were marching; he was constantly seeking a rider from the Vanguard, which was only a day's march ahead.

Oswell nodded, "My men remain on their guard, we know the dangers of letting ourselves become slack. Do you have any idea how long it will be until we reach the Wall?" Oswell lookd around suspiciously, mention of the wights was more than enough to set him on edge again.
