Shahrizai and her retinue approach this one's camp. She did not feel like waiting an eternity to speak with the other dragon. She was slightly shivering underneath her bundles of garments.
Her translator spoke, "My lady Shahrizai of Myr would like to speak with the Princess Ariel Targaryen." He had a slightly accented speech.

Ariel was sitting on her rather-worn cushion, one of the few luxuries besides clothing she had brought with herself, and wearing her travelling-leathers when her guard spoke of the Lady Shahrizai's request. Ariel raised her head. "Enter," she said cheerily, rising to her feet and grabbing another cushion to set in front of her.

The translator brushed off the idle snow from his mistress and took off some of the layers of robes and cloaks that were mounted on her. My poor lady and these horrific drab linens... he thought to himself as he meandered about.
Shah inclined her head and spoke to her translator in whisps. "Princess Ariel, my lady bid you greeting and well wishes on your family's great victory. She says she was inspired by your dragons and the resilience of your blood. She says she is sorry for your losses as well, and said a prayer in their memory for it was all she could do."
Shah kneels down on the pillow, happy for the small comfort. The translator knelt beside her.

Ariel smiled at Shahrizai, and spoke directly to her in High Valyrian. "Greetings, my Lady Shahrizai. I thank you for your words, and on behalf of the Line of Aegon, I accept them. You were among the captains of the Free Cities?" she asked softly.

Shah and her translator sat for a moment in silence, he wondering if he should do his duty and she taking in the princess' words. "Lady Shahrizai brings food and supplies for the army since there is a need and we her loyal followers fight in her stead."
Shah raised her hand to halt the man and gave him a look. He in turn looked pleadingly at his lady while turning red in the face. Shah tilted her head up slightly and began to speak in a musical tone. "What my man says is true, we served your mother. She was a great woman."

Ariel chuckled at the translator. "Relax, friend," she said. "Your services are still needed with the minor lords, the ones of Andal blood." She then turned back to Shah.
"Lady Saella was. Though she was not my mother. The acknowledged Queen is her daughter, and my cousin, born of the second line from Prince Aegon before the First Reconquest." She raised a hand. "There's been some disagreement over the succession, but neither of us wishes to draw steel over the matter, particularly not when she has the support of the army."

Shah folded her hands in her lap and blinked, "I see. I should have known of the split in the tree. The Free Cities sailors and warriors, came to an agreement with Queen Saella. Will her daughter honour the same deal?"

Ariel shrugged. "I don't know what deal you made," she said. "Saella didn't go out of her way to keep me in the loop, since I was too busy guarding her flank from the Cult, and of course I hadn't revealed my name yet. The past several decades...it has not been healthy to be named Targaryen, you understand. But Rhaenys is a woman of honor, albeit one pressed by many commitments."

She put her palms facing up on her lengs, "Many eager to gain the gaze of their new queen yes. Commitments. I did not bend to Queen Saella, my family agreed with her for trade. A deal that helps keep the army of Westeros fed yes?"

Ariel looked at Shahrizai and considered. "What was the agreement?" she asked. "Understand, Rhaenys doesn't listen to me, but I might be able to get things sorted out, through the usual intermediaries that feuding branches of a family always keep around to talk to each other." She grinned, then sobered. "But I can't make any promises, and I don't have the keys to the treasury."

Shah gave a slow, ever graceful nod. "Golden dragons, for food." She adjusts herself slightly on the pillow, "As you say yourself, it was not popular to be named of the dragons, but, my family did not pay mind to such. The Queen gave us surety to be compensated for our efforts. At least now, you know of friends, and what has been done to give aid."

Ariel nodded to Shahrizai. "Alright. Formally speaking, the man you'd go to for that is Lord Selwyn Baratheon. He's the one in charge of making sure the army is fed and supplied. Informally?" She gave a rueful smile. "I don't know where Saella kept her money, or how much she had, but I know the treasury of the Realm is in enemy hands. I fear you're not likely to see any coin for years, if ever. And if you say this out loud, I'll deny ever having said it." She grinned.

Another slow, almost tedious nod. "It is the faith my parents invested in the Queen. With no Queen Saella, can there still be the same faith? I do not know, word travels slow from Myr to this....wherever this place is." A shake of the head, and some jingles sound from her filigrees.

Ariel looked to Shahrizai. "I am not certain," she responded. "Queen Rhaenys is honorable, but I very much doubt she's got the purse to back her mother's words. I am sorry I cannot give you better tidings, my Lady Shahrizai."
