His eyebrows lifted in mock suprise,"Really? I would never have thought." His eyebrows went back down and he smiled again,"I guess being a Westerman puts you above the rest, or rather a Westerwoman with what your wearing."

"I know it might be hard, but do try to keep your opinions in line, goodman. If you have trouble remembering, just ask me and I'll be pleased to tell you what you ought be thinking. I shouldn't want you to strain yourself."
Warren glanced at the ironborn, as if remembering something. "Oh, and thank you for the compliments. Your wife always found them fetching on me, though not so much as she enjoyed them on the floor."

He smiled,"Sadly I don't have a wife, just brothers, and I'm sure one of those two helped you out fine."

"Ah, excuse me. Must have been your mother then," he said with a hmm.
"She was certainly pretty enough to be your wife. You'll have to give her my thanks next time you see her," Warren informed the ironborn, then reached into his pocket for something before tossing it at the man. It was a gold dragon. "And give her that, as well."

He took the coin and put it in his pocket, he then put his hand on his chin in thought. He then took the coin and two more like it and tossed it back,"I seem to recall you being a bastard, and your mother being a whore, so heres two for your mother and one for you. Because you can never really tell a whore how much you appreciate her... except of course with coin."

"See? You're getting better at this already. Why, within a few weeks time you might even be able to insult me," Warren smiled good naturedly and tucked the three coins into his pocket. "And I even came out ahead. I'll have to spend these wisely, you know. Do let me know when your mother is available, will you?"

Talyn looked at the two men and sighed.
"Stop quarrelling or I shall forbid either one of you to see the queen today."

"Forgive me if you believe I was quarreling, ser," Warren replies, solemn look drawn on his face. "I shall cease the conversation at once."

"Good. It looks ill for both of you to be seen in such a position when you are waiting to see Her Grace. One moment."
Talyn went inside the tent to speak with Rhaenys. A minute or two later, he indicated that Warren could go inside. She greeted him politely then got straight to the matter in hand.
"So, what information have you for me today, my lord?"

"I come to give you the information of a service I can provide, and the information of the very simple payment requested for that service," he said coyly.

"Tell me what service you speak of and what you expect as payment," Rhaenys said bluntly. "I do not believe in skirting around such simple matters."

"A shame. I was always a fan for wordplay," Warren says as he cants his head and frowns in a playful way. "My request is a simple one."
"First I will say this. As I am sure you know, I was the first lord in the westerlands to raise my men to follow the Army of the Ever-Night, despite that the Lord Lannister had declared the West would not. It was only after my father, Seven preserve him, had fallen did I right the course of House Marbrand. There is no large amount of discontentment about my place at the head of my house, given my bastard lineage, but still, it would give me a great deal of relief and honor if you would affirm my inheritance, Your Grace."

"Well...that is an easy request to grant, but I cannot say yea or nay until you tell me if there are other candidates to the lordship. I must be sure who has the best claim both in terms of blood and fitness to rule," Rhaenys said.

"I believe that my lord father had a trueborn daughter, though by my understanding she was born after I was," Warren nodded respectfully. "I mean no slight against you, my Queen, but aside from the Targaryen line, and that of the practices of Dorne, the lords of Westeros are not wont to allow a lady, noble as she may be, to inherit a lords seat. I will tell you that I am the sole male heir to the Marbrand seat."
