The red and black striped tent of Aegon Targaryen.
The entrance is guarded by two of his men.
Aegon's red shield emblazoned with a black dragon hangs on a pole outside the tent.
Inside the tent is a small table with a chair and a small chest.

Aegon is seated on the chair having a shoulder wound, taken in the Last Battle, attended to by his squire Valarr. He grimaces periodically as the wound is stitched.
Another servant is cleaning the blood and grime from his black armour.

Rhaenys entered the tent. This time, she was accompanied by her female bodyguard, Jeyne Ladybright.
"Greetings, cousin," Rhaenys said warily.

Aegon did not rise as Rhaenys entered. He looked up at the blonde woman in front of him quizzically.
"You must think my manners are somewhat lacking cousin, but if my squire does not sew this wound now, then I'm likely to bleed all over this tent and most likely you.
With his uninjured arm he waved at a bottle of wine and a goblet.
"My squire will only be a few more minutes, but in the meantime...."

"Thank you," she said. "And don't worry, kneeling can wait for a more public setting. I'm happy to be less formal with my own blood kin."
Rhaenys poured wine into the goblet and took a couple of mouthfuls then offered it to Aegon.

Aegon took the goblet, nodded his thanks and grimaced as Valaar put the finishing touches on his handiwork.
"Should I address you as Queen Rhaenys now?"

"In public, it's best, but when we are in a more private setting it may not be necessary, so long as we remain friends," she said.

Aegon's face remained impassive. He took a small sip from the goblet Rhaenys had passed to him.
"My late sister was named Rhaenys. She looked a lot like you too."
He paused and took another sip.
"I hope you're a better judge of character than she was."

"I hope I am too. A queen cannot afford to make bad judgements of character. Have you any plans now that the war is won?"

Aegon looked a little surprised.
"Is it won Rhaenys? I understood that the Cult of the Dead God remains in control of large parts of Westeros including the capital. Unfortunately because of that your queenship is far from assured."
"So plans? None really. I plan to help stamp out the Cult of the Dead God who have always hated Targaryens....but after that who knows."
He leaned back in his chair and smiled.
"In any case I should be asking you what your plans are. Now that your mother had died, my guess is that marriage proposals for you and your sisters will be coming in thick and fast. There will be lords aplenty wanting to wed and bed a Targaryen and not just for the power that it will bring either."

"Yes, well, I will be flattered if the man I marry wants me for myslf as well as my name but I will not be too hopeful. I will be considering the matter of marriage carefully, you may be sure of that. Of course we will make plans to deal with the Cult of the Dead God, but, as my mother's heir, I must look to the future as well as getting rid of our enemies. I will be happy to have you fight beside me, Aegon."

Aegon leaned forward and studied his kinswoman intently.
"I understand you are Saella's heir, but you will rule a kingdom filled with fracticious noblemen and eager to place you in a position what they would regard as fitting for a woman - a lower rung of the social ladder compared to them. Moreover under the customs of Westeros any children you have would belong to your husband's family. The crown would pass from the Targaryens once again. Indeed were it not for the dragons, I doubt many of the lords would follow a woman off their own accord. Someone like Selwyn is far more to their taste.
He noted the look on Rhaella's face at his last words.
"You may mislike what I say, but I fear it is the truth."

"I know it," Rhaenys answered. "Mother warned me of the same thing many times over. She desired me to have my husband take my name and our children likewise. I mean to make sure no man rules me, husband or otherwise. As for Selwyn, I will bind him to us, Aegon, you may be sure of that."

Aegon leaned back and thought for a minute.
"What if your husband already had your name?"

Rhaenys laughed.
"i wonder how long it woudl take you to suggest that, cousin. It would be a benefit, I do not doubt it, but I would expect my husband to bring me more than his name. "
