It seems people are having issues with writing their scenarios about the Others.
Could my Westerosi experts throw up their knowledge about the weapons, and tactics of the Evil, cold, dead dudes.

They have glowing swords that look as if they are made of something icy and can cut through metal. They can be killed with valyrian steel, fire and obsidian. I also think they can be wounded with normal steel.
They ride dead animals such as dead horses or large spiders.

Basically, the largest force would be the wraiths, which are basically just zombies with glowing blue eyes that shuffle towards anything living and try to rip it to pieces/tear it's guts out.
The Others meanwhile are silent and deadly, with blue eyes and glowing swords. From the little we've seen they are deadly fast and very able with their weapons.
Both can only be harmed with fire and killed with obsidian.

There are two types of evil supernatural baddies here.
Wights are the walking dead. Their hands turn black and their eyes turn an icey blue. They don't seem to be intelligent and wield no weapons, but are directed by the Others in some fashion. They feel no pain, and the only way to kill them with normal weapons are to hack them apart. They are very vulnerable to fire. Obsidian has no effect on them.
The Others are the supernatural, non-human masters of the wights. GRRM hasn't revealed a lot about them, but they seem to be intelligent, malevolent, and deadly swordsmen with their icey blades and armor. A wound from an obsidian weapon kills an Other instantly. Presumably one from a Valyrian steel blade would do the same.
