Lyn and Baldwin were mounted on their horses outside King’s Landing. They both needed practice so they decided they will fight with lances first. Baldwin wasn’t a very good jouster and Lyn didn’t know anything about lances. Still, they wanted to be ready for the tourney. The horses started galloping towards each other as Lyn and Baldwin held their lances firmly as they approached. Lyn hit Baldwin’s shield and his lance shattered on the impact, but the young lord hit the old knight in the head, taking off his helmet.
Lyn took a new lance and they charged again. This time, Baldwin missed and Lyn hit him in the chest. For the third time they charged and this time the young lord managed to unhorse Ser Lyn. The Payne knight got up quickly and unsheathed his sword. Baldwin dismounted, sword in hands, and ran straight towards Lyn. Payne stepped aside and hit Baldwin on the back with a lot of strength.
Baldwin’s sword flew a few feet away, but he easily got up again before Lyn was near him. He took back his sword and parried one of Lyn’s blows clumsily. They exchanged blows quickly and Lyn managed to land a few hits on Baldwin, but they weren’t enough to throw the lord to the ground. Baldwin breathed heavily and he was fatigued, but Lyn was still full of strength. He hit the young lord on his helmet with a lot of strength, sending the youth to the ground. He offered his lord a hand and pulled him to his feet. He mounted his horse and Baldwin did the same.
“Lord Lefford, I have decided to fight for a White Cloak.” He said
“Really?” He raised his eyebrows “I didn’t think you were much for honor and such things.”
“I’m not. Still, I am able with a sword in my hands and I plan to get better by the tourney’s start. What’s with you and the position of the master of coins, my lord?”
“I will finance the war with Barclay. The whole thing. That should be enough to prove my loyalty.” He said
“That is true.” The old knight nodded.
