Baldwin entered the Bluebeard inn right after his conversation with the Hand, Yancey Smallwood. He made a decision; he will become the master of coins, despite his age and his father’s betrayal. For that he had to work hard and so he decided to do anything. He came to Lyn’s solar and stormed in. After he closed the door he started speaking.
“He laughed at me.” Anger blossomed on Baldwin’s face “All went well as I told him about my loyalty to the crown, about my wealth and such. But when I told him my age he just muttered something about ambitions and laughed!”
“Well, that was to be expected. I hope you controlled your feelings.” Lyn frowned
”I didn’t let my face show my thoughts. I know better than that, you told me always to keep my feelings to my self and those truly close to me. I decided that now I won’t back away. I want that position and we will work together to get it.” Baldwin had a determined aura about him
“You know I will help you. I will do whatever you believe is necessary.” Lyn nodded slightly
“Thank you, Lyn. I have a plan. I will first buy a warehouse in the port and you will make an extremely thick network there. After that, I will buy some ships to bring goods from foreign lands, like spices from Asshai or something else that is both expensive and well sold. Fabrics, jewels, spices, wine anything that you can make money on.” Baldwin explained to Lyn
“That is a fine plan my lord, but also an expensive one.” Lyn frowned
”If Golden Tooth has an advantage, it’s definitely the fact that it sits on a goldmine. I have plenty of gold that I will invest like this and later get money from it. Also, to prove the loyalty of the West you will go to fight Barclay. We might even make a profit out of it. Prepare and then go to the port to give me more eyes and ears over there. Find a warehouse that is both big and not too expensive, because we will need to spend money on merchant ships.”
“As you say, my lord.” Lyn bowed and left

Lyn didn’t like the fact that he had to run wherever Baldwin commanded. But it was required if he wants to have a friend on an important position such as the one Baldwin was after. Lyn realized the boy has potential, but he is only sixteen. That is why everyone will think of him as a green, stupid boy that just might get in the way.
Baldwin certainly wasn’t such. He spent his childhood learning about money and now he sits on it. He buried a father that was a lord, a hand and a king. He buried a grandfather that tried to kill the king. In sixteen years he had such an eventful life and he never moved from the Westerlands before.
Lyn was now moving towards the warehouses in the port. He was told that the warehouse 32 was quite big and owned by a Braavosi merchant Denyo Votar, who works as his own boss. The merchant owned three galleys and one warehouse for the transfer of goods between the Free Cities and Westeros. Lyn moved to the warehouse gates where one guard stood.
“Good day.” Said Lyn to the guard and grinned
”Good day to you as well. What d’yer want?” He was a cranky one
“I would like to speak to master Denyo Votar, a certain merchant from Braavos.”
”Yeah, he’s ma boss. He’s in King’s Landing, in the Silver Stag tavern.” The guard scratched his head
”Thank you very much for your assistance.” Lyn said and left
He knew where that place was. Quite a fancy tavern, which means this merchant is quite a fancy man. Maybe he could pay the merchant to work for Baldwin and like that there would be no need to buy ships. They would come with the merchant. He’ll bring this Denyo to Baldwin so they could talk business.

Lyn walked towards the Bluebeard inn with Denyo Votar. The man said he is always willing to talk about business and he looked like that. He was a short man with short black hair and green eyes. He had a cunning look in his eyes, just like every other merchant that is at least a bit successful.
Lyn entered the inn with the Braavosi and took him to Baldwin’s solar. He knocked and entered the room. Baldwin sat at his desk and wrote down some numbers in a book.
“My lord,” Lyn bowed slightly “This is Denyo Votar, a merchant from Braavos that deals with the transfer of goods from the Free Cities.”
“Of course, with no smuggling and such. I always pay taxes.” The man smiled
Baldwin got up from his chair “This will be a bit blunt, but I’d like to get to the point as soon as possible. Would you like to work for me?”
Denyo smiled “Truly blunt, my lord Lefford. Why do you ask such a thing? I am doing very well on my own.”
”Because I would like to expand my trading network and you trade with goods from the Free Cities. If you do join me, you will live in King’s Landing, you will not pay for accommodations nor food and you will get a paid 20% of all that I sell. Count in the fact that I will give 10% to the crews of your ships and that 10% will go to the king for taxes. Like this I will get 60% of the money for everything we sell and you will get paid not only in the 20%, but also in free food and lodgings.” Baldwin explained “How much ships and warehouses do you own?”
”One warehouse and three ships my lord. And you really have a good offer there. Give me a day to think about it and I will tell you about my decision tomorrow, my lord.” Denyo thought about the offer
”Fine. You may go, master Denyo, and tomorrow come back.” Baldwin nodded approvingly
”Have a nice day, my lord.” Denyo bowed and left
“Did you do as I told you with the spies?” Baldwin asked Lyn when the merchant went away.
“I did. I hired more guards at the Mud gate and a lot of people that spend nearly all their days in the port.”
“You did a great job. It seems to me I am closer to the position as every hour passes.” Baldwin grinned
”I hope so.” Said Lyn

In the morning, when Baldwin was up and ready for the day he went down to eat something in the dining room of the inn. When he came down he saw Denyo talking to the innkeeper.
“Ah, my lord Lefford. I have come to tell you of my decision.” Denyo smiled
“Good. What have you decided?” Baldwin’s heart thumped quickly. This business might bring more money to him.
”I accept.”
