It was all that Lilith could do to keep a straight face. Piers was as bad as she was about needling this man.

As the music was starting and Piers and the prince seemed to have just about finished needling each other, she glanced at Piers and then the dance floor.
She needed to dance, needed to be swept away.

Bowing deeply to the King's brother, Piers grabs Lilith's hand and sweeps her onto the dance floor. Whispering in her ear he says, "I would be careful with that one, sweetling. He looks like the kind to bite. Hard."

Throughout his feast Steffen remains aloof from the main crowd. He was feeling stronger today, it was true, but these were alien circumstances for him. He glanced at Daena. She was beautiful for sure, even more so than Taena had been. His thoughts drifted to her for a second, the girl who did not even know who had hired her. He smiled, before getting slightly shakily to his feet, and spotting Piers and Lilith Royce nearby, went over to join them. "My thanks for you kind words earlier my lady, I had other things on my mind. Ser Piers, i trust you are well?" Steffen grinned at him, before turning to the rest of the guests.
"My friends, a toast! A toast to the mighty word warrior himself, Ser Piers Bettley!"

Lilith could feel the tension between Piers and the Worm. They might have been on the same side but there was still no love loss between them.
"Hail to our heroic bride and groom," she cried in return. "Long life and happiness to them both!"
Eventually the cheering died down and the music started playing again. She once again got to feel Piers's arms around, lust indeed remained. But so did the need to put something into words.
"I feel as if my silks no longer fit. I return to this world like so many soldiers return from battle, scarred by the sight of death and violence, and yet the world continues and does not notice the wounds that have been left behind. "
She smiled wryly. "I find I despise these biting dragonsnakes and nibbling worms that are part of the ocean of death. And yet you, who feel like warmth and life itself, have swum deep in those waters as well."
She had not meant to let the Merry Widow slip again, not to this man, but such was the ebb and flow of life.

Prince Baelor and his younger brother Prince Aedon entered the festivities and found themselves almost lost in the celebration. Prince Aedon was honorable despite his lustful tendencies, and his younger brother was nothing if not dutiful.

Lord Breyn Royce finally makes his entrance. He mingles for a bit, and drinks a toast to both Steffen and Daena, and subtly gives Daeana a meaningful look. Seeing the heir apprent had arrived, Breyn began to move over in his direction. "Prince Aemon, I don't believe we've met. I am Lord Breyn Royce. Congratulations on your sisters marriage."

Aemon smiled genuinely and bowed respectively to the Lord Paramount, "I am honored to meet your acquaintance, my Lord Royce. I have heard stories of your valor at the Battle of Casterly Rock. No doubt you have done the Vale, and the realm great services."

Steffen seats himself at the feasting table, helping himself to wine, and observing the people around him. He steals a glance at Daena. She is beautiful He watches Breyn and Aemon with slight interest, before finishing his wine, and refilling the glass.

"That is kind of you to say Prince Ameon. The Vale shed blood to win you back your birthright, and it was a moral thing to do. I have heard that the King appointed your brother-in-law as Lord of Riverrun. An..." Breyn pauses and then continues "...interesting choice to be sure."

"I agree, my father is definitely capable of keeping his courtiers on their toes." He smiled, "Though, I do believe he should have rewarded you more. Perhaps I shall advise him to do so later, good Lord?"

"If you so choose Prince Aemon. I would not be ungrateful for such a noble gesture. I am glad to have helped House Targaryen reclaim their stolen throne, and I only have the best inerests of the Royal family at heart."

Piers looks at Lilith silently for a moment. He starts biting at his lip, and after a long awkward moment of muteness he replies to Lilith's question. His smile fades off his face, "I could say that in the grand scheme of life a little death means nothing. I could say that all these travesties are horrible, but are necessary for a brighter future. I could say the Seven are guiding us, and they know what is best even if we do not ourselves. But I will not because those statements are useless, possible untrue, platitudes."
"Instead," Ser Piers continued, "I will be honest with. And honestly I do not know why I am telling you this. The answer is love. Whatever I experience, whatever I do. I do for love. Baldwin is a good man, you might not see it. What he has done for me..." He trails off for a moment.
His smile reappears, "That is how I survive, whole and well. And if you mock me right now I may have to challenge you to a joust."
