7. May 546., Ser Lyn's Mansion
Ser Lyn Payne sat in his solar in his mansion, waiting for Ser Miles Plumm to arrive. What Lyn wanted was a march to Riverrun, to help the western army. A knock was heard and Miles entered the room.
"Ah, here you are, Miles. We have to ride to the Riverlands, so prepare as much men as you can. Also, send a letter to my brother and tell him to lend me fifty men. I have fifty as well, so we will ride with a hundred. Not much, I know, but like that we can move relatively unseen and ambush the rears of our enemies armies." Lyn explained
"I will go send the letter now. But your brother's keep is two days ride from here." Miles replied
"I know, which is why we are riding there first. Just tell him to prepare me the men, I will take them and ride on." said Lyn impatiently
"I'll go now, then." said Ser Miles and left the room

Ser Lyn was now on the head of his long line of men, all dressed in purple and white, the colors of his house. Just as he was thinking about where to move first, Ser Miles rode to him.
"Ser Lyn, we are attacked!" he shouted and turned around, riding back to the rear. On a nearby hill there were a lot of archers, shooting at Lyn's men. From the other side, men with spears and crude swords made an arrowhead formation, going directly to the middle of the Payne army
"Miles!" when Lyn shouted the Plumm knight turned around "Send twenty men with yourself to the archers, I will take care of the rest!"
Ser Miles took his men to the hill, but when they arrived, most of the archers escaped. The Plumm knight took the cavalry and tracked them, but they disappeared. When he returned to the other side of the hill, he realized that most of the bandits there escaped as well. Ser Lyn rode to Miles.
"Ser Miles!" he shouted "We have lost ten men, what about you?"
"Six. The archers escaped." said Miles shortly as he went closer to Lyn
"They won't get out of this, not while I live." said Lyn coldly and rode away
13. May 546., Somewhere near the Riverlands
Ser Lyn Payne spent a day looking for the bandits' hideout and when he found out where it was, it took him an other day to think of a strategy that would take down most of the bandits and loose the smallest amount of men.
The bandits had an underground hideouts in the old gold mines that were in these areas. these mines had a lot of exits and entrances, all of them guarded. However, Lyn's men found another entrance, one that the bandits didn't use. The bandits had eyes and ears everywhere, so Lyn's second moves was cutting off these ears and poking out the eyes.
The time for the attack came, as Lyn already had a few men inside the bandit settlement and eighty out of it. The moment for attack came, so Lyn secured all the entrances and killed most of the guards, entering the mines from many sides. As his men entered they saw a real underground town, that even had a sept. Candles stood all around this underground city, lighting the space as much as they could.
Lyn pulled out his sword and commanded the men to throw their torches and destroy as much of the town as they can. Men fought back, though with rusty iron, but with a lot of heart. Lyn went to the man that seemed to be the leader of these men and attacked him from the back, hitting him in the head.
The man, however, had a thick helmet, so he didn't even fall and he quickly turned around, striking back. The bandit went for Lyn's legs, trying to throw him out of balance, but Lyn parried and started fighting more quickly. The bandit tried to land another blow, but Lyn threw it back and stabbed him in the shoulder. The man let his sword out, so Lyn struck his sword deep in his stomach. The man fell as blood covered his armor.
Lyn ran to the big fire in what could be called the main square, as everything important was around it, and took a few logs. He put them in the fire and started throwing these burned logs around, trying to destroy as much as he can.
On the other side of the bandit town Ser Miles Plumm fought a different battle in narrow tunnels. He could barely even fight with his sword, so he stabbed more than he swinged. A wave of bandits was trying to exit this way, as they saw all the other tunnels were blocked. Ser Miles just put the sharp end in them, as his old master of arms told him so many times.
More and more men were coming, blocking the way and making it hard for the Payne men to fight. They were suppose to burn the tunnel down, but how could they do it when they couldn't even move? Miles ran back to fresh air, but his men fought on. He threw in the oil skins and straw they prepared and threw in torches.
Sometimes sacrifice was needed, this time, his men would be the sacrifice.
