The Twins are a pair of matched, strong castles of great importance as they contain and guard a bridge across the Green Fork near the Neck; there are no other crossings until far further south, at the ruby ford. The Freys were granted the lands some six hundred years before and have since become the strongest houses under the Tullys.

Ser Hendledon Frey is one a member of the twisted and extended family tree of House Frey. While he'll freely admit to having no idea how he is precisely related to the current Lord Frey, he can rattle off his place in the line of succession in a heartbeat (Eighteenth).
"Hullo there," Hendleton says, riding out to meet the party. "You wouldn't happen to be lost, by any chance?"

"I'm afraid not. We are messengers from the North, come to speak with Lord Frey," Zach said calmly, gesturing to his fellow men. "Will you admit us inside, or can you speak on his behalf?"

"Bugger," Hendleton mutters. "Well, alright then. Let's get this over with. Welcome to the Twins, the most impregnable fortress in Westeros, and don't let any Royces in their 'Eyrie' tell you otherwise. Do you want to cross the bridge? Everyone wants to cross the bridge."

"The Eyrie is cold and lonesome, where the Twins is warm and plentiful," Zach smiles. "I have a great interest in your bridge, though not to cross it. I have no doubt you are aware of your... friends to the south and their situations?"

Hendleton picks at a scab on his face. "Sorry mate, but you're going to have to be a bit more specific. We got a lot of friends to the south. What's your name again?"

"I am Zach Faire, adviser to King Stark. I speak on his behalf. And you might be?"

"Ser Hendleton Frey, eighteenth in line for this wondrous castle of ours. Though it'd be seventeenth if Old Aenys would get along with dying already." Hendleton scratches his ear. "Anyhow, you were saying something about southern friends?"

"Yes; well it is nice to meet you, Ser Hendledon Frey. No doubt a man like yourself will rise quickly to a powerful position. I would be glad to see that happen," Zach says warmly before continuing.
"You may already know that the rest of the Riverlands lie in ruin; Riverrun is taken, and the other kingdoms wage war on themselves. It's terrible, though I'm not surprised that such a strong and powerful castle such as your own is still intact."
"I offer you and your most esteemed family a proposition, in the name of King Gariss Stark." He stops for a small moment to gauge Ser Hendledon Frey's reaction.

"Right, right, get on with it," Hendleton says.

"I would welcome you and all of House Frey into the Kingdom and the North. Defenders of the Crossing and most esteemed among our houses."

Hendleton guffaws loudly, slaps his leg, then wipes away some tears from his eye. "Hahaha... Oh Seven Gods, you're serious, aren't you? No offense, mate, but you're a sinking ship. What can you offer us to make it worth our while?"

"A better chance than the rest of the Riverlands. Solidity. A guaranteed spot among my king's close council.. among other things, in reason should you request them."
"You and your family would be much more respected among the the North, as Gatekeepers and Defenders of the North, rather than some bridge near the neck to the rest of Westeros," Zach says, waving his hand airily.

"Seems to me that with Tully and Blackwood meeting the Stranger and their forces all laying dead and bloody-like on the ground, Frey is already the most powerful house in the Riverlands. And that young Tully boy'll need a Regent, like as not." Hendleton shrugs. "Don't see why we'd throw that all away to be the most exposed part of an upstart kingdom. Unless you're offering for us to be his regent, but I get the sense he's a bit old for that, what with declaring himself King and all."
