Howland watched the infantry crash together with the King's men. His uncle was doing a splendid job so far. Howland had hoped that Smallwood would not disengage part of his cavalry to attack his, but one could not count on luck in war. "Prepare for the worst," he thought. He ordered his men to charge. Men around him gets cut down, but he spots Ser Upcliff land a blow on Massey. Though Leonard and Davos are both injured, Howland curses and cuts at the enemies sent before him. His sword seems to be everywhere as he blocks and parries the varies weapons sent his way.
He gives another order and this time the King loses more men than he does. Aegon is sending arrows flying like no tomorow, and Jonas is spearing enemies left and right. Unfortunatly Leonard is hit by Ambrose's lance. Howland growls and tries to reach Ambrose, but the throng of enemies is to great and he must be satisfied with cutting the lesser knights.
Seeing Gaunt retreat sends Howland's blood pumping and he orders the men to follow. He grimaces as the enemies wheel around. The fighting is getting fiercer and Howland is forced to watch as a great deal of his people are cut down. Hendry gets knocked down from his horse and cut down, while Sand kills Lynderly. Aegon manages a small revenge by hitting Danton Massey. Howland spot a weakness in the enemy and does his best to shout out the orders to strike that point. Howland smiles with grim satisfaction now that the King had lost about the same amount of men that he had from the previous exhange.
Howland looks around to spot his comrades in arms, in his horror he can't spot Lynderly or Torrent. A glip in his concentration allows the enemy to get inbetween Howland and the main army. Davos is knocked of his horse and the enemy further manages to kill his men as the enemies pulls a full retreat. He takes of his helmet. Sweat is pouring down leaving clean trenches on an otherwise dirty face, as he stares over the vast amount of dead and dying on the field.
