Lord Cregan walked among his men as they began the preparations for the battle. He spoke to some of the younger men, that felt a bit of unease as they had never done this kind of battle. He gave last instructions to those that he had put in charge of the ladders, so he was sure they all knew what they would be doing when the battle began.
Hamish had been giving leadership over the Harclay clansmen that had come with the army here. The men had never been this far south, and some were a bit afraid that the Gods wouldn't listen to them down here, but Hamish had spent much time in the company of Lord Cerwyn and his father, so he managed to calm them down, and make them ready for the battle ahead, by telling them that the Gods would be with them this day.
The men placed themselves in the formations that Cregan had worked up, and then the battle began.

The sound of battle could be heard, men falling from the ladders as they were pushed back from the walls by those inside the castle, and the men were beginning to think if they were going to be able to take the castle.
Cregan began to see the unsureness of his men, and joined in the battle among them, to give them resolve to continue fighting, and at the same time as he did, battle sounds could be heard from the inside of the castle, and this gave the men and Cregan new strength to fight on.

Cregan had just managed to climb up one of the ladders and put his feet upon the solid wall, when a Rickon soldier attacked him. He managed to deflect the attack with his warhammer, and after he found his bearings, he challanged the man again, and with a sure hit to the man's head, he went on to other enemies to fight.
Hamish dodged a blow from the man in front of him, by ducking and then making a roll to his right. He feinted a attack to the man's leg, but the man side-stepped to avoid this, just as Hamish had inticipated, and as the man exposed a part of himself to Hamish's spear, the clansman moved his spear and got a kill. As the man was slipping down to his death, Hamish moved on to fight the next one.

Cregan walked among the men after the battle was done, thanking them for the aiding King Gariss and the North. He helped to cover the bodies of those brave men that had died in the battle, and he gave comfort to those that had been wounded. He spoke to Hamish, and was very thankful to see that his friend was still alive, before he went to speak with King Gariss.
Hamish closed the eyes to one the clan warrior that had been killed in the battle. He looked around at the other clansmen that stood there waiting and unsure of what happened now. He saw Cregan speaking to some of the soldiers and headed for him. After speaking with Cregan, Hamish returned to the clansmen.
“We are to go out and scout north, looking for any signs of approching troops and report back here”
