Dorne 25 years ago:
The sun beat down on the riders of the Far Reach as they traveled to Hellholt to meet and do battle with Lord Fowler and bring a final ending to the war in Dorne. Igor had been with Aemon Webber until the old man caught sun stroke and had to rest. He was foolish then he remembered, young and full of anger, he knew so little of war then.
The battle seemed surreal to him he barely remembered how he lost his eye, all he could remember was the constant thrashing of his seven pointed morning star crashing and slashing the son's of Dorne as he led the small contingent of House soldiers into battle.
As the sunset on Hellholt Igor was glad to be alive although he cursed the Seven for the lost of his eye.
How foolish he had been, as he cried and drank and cursed and fought as he sat slowly dieing in a tavern outside of Oldtown.
The five years after the war had been a haze for Igor, he worked small jobs with a local gang taking what money he could steal and giving it to the tavern keepers or whores of Oldtown.
He would have died, if he had not been found by the begging brother one evening in an alley near the Sept of the Port and carried back to the Sept for some medical attention. He had said something to the wrong people and they had beaten him senseless and left him for dead.
The Brother taught him that he should not curse the Seven for the loss of his eye when so many other men failed to return. The brother said that the Smith could make all men whole who offered devotion.
From that day on Igor Conklyn had sworn off gambling and women and drink and turned to offer full devotion to the Seven.
He lived a full life as a novice in a Septery until the day the note arrived.
Present Day:
The letter had said that all men of faith should join a mighty army to restore the prominence of the Faith to Westeros. Igor had known firsthand the horrors of war the selfish lords of Westeros put the small folk through so he volunteered with some other septons to meet in oldtown and march in the Army of the Seven.
As the Army crossed into the Mander on the way to the capital, Igor Conklyn grabbed his morningstar tightly. He did not want to fight but the forces of evil that gripped Westeros would not let it slip easily from their grasps. Though he was old and grey and out of practice, he knew when the time came he would remember his training and with the strength of the Warrior inside him he would send all enemies charging headfirst into the Seven Hells.
