The corpses of Pieter Tully and Terrence Blackwood are nailed to posts erected in front of Harrenhal. They hang there for a day before Smallwood and the King ride out of their camp to parlay with Ser Desmond Darry.
Rodrick asks Darry to look at all the battles he has won. He tells him that the Riverlands are being invaded by both West and North, and the only way for him to save himself and his realm is to surrender now. Rodrick reminds Desmond that loyalty can reap great rewards, but for defiance he need only look to the corpses of his leaders to know where that path ends.
A day later Darry surrenders. His 3125 men join with Rodrick's force.
