Lord Howland watched the ruined river crossing and cursed. This was certainly the King's work. It was good that they were prepared for such an event. Howland had studied a bit of engineering while staying at Oldtown as Lord Hightower's squire and knew a fair deal about making bridges. At once he ordered his men to cut down trees so that they could cross the river.
Raft's were made as were crude planks that were used as a makeshift bridge. Once a group of men was over the river they would tie a rope to themselves and attempt to bring the planks to the other shore. Thankfully there were still remains of the stonebridge that the planks could rest on on both shores and after a while they had a crude wooden bridge. The planks were tied together so that the planks would not move away from eachother. The cavalry would use the bridge while others would use the many rafts available. The first cavalry group crossing would serve as outriders incase an ambush would occur, his uncle was very knowledgable in the art of war as everyone knew and Howland was determined to learn as much as he could from the man while he had the chance.
It was nearing dark as the last man had crossed over the makeshift bridge. Though most of the cavalry had been given the duty as vanguard. It had been a long discussion on this particular matter. Word was that the West was also marching on Harrenhall and though his uncle doubted the West, Howland was almost certain that Cedric's men would fight the king. So he had decided to send the horsemen and knights infront of the main host. A total of 7 000 free riders, knights and men at arms rode toward Harrenhall in front of the remaining 12 000 men. Wether or not it was wise that Howland rode with the 7 000 men, leaving his uncle in charge of the remainder would only be known after the battle.

Lord Howland Royce and army crosses the Trident.
Howland increase engineer to apprentice
Howland increase warfare to master (it was previously near master)
A group of loyalists patrolling the Trident under Kijo Sands comes across the army before the bridge is complete. They rain arrows down on the men attempting to cross the river by raft and those attempting to build the bridge. They kill 300 Valemen before being driven off.
Howland and 7000 riders ride towards Harrenhall and will join the battle if they can. Trying to attack the flanks of the King's Army, and stretch them wide by harrying the flanks.
Scot Royce and his 11,700 men force marches to Harrenhall to join the battle at a later opportunity
