With most of their cavalry gone, Yancey is almost surprised by an army of 16000 Westermen. He has just enough time to order up a defensive screen.
It does some good, but the Westermen cut deep into the formation. Ser Clive manages to land his mace on the Lord Commander's armor. And Ser Myatt is hit by a stray arrow, but it only leaves a glancing blow.
Ser Darry is sleeping in his bed in Harrenhal when he hears the battle commence. Immediately he thinks he is being attacked, he rushes out into the main hall to be told of the battle waging out side the gates. He orders his men to prepare to sally forth, and desperately attempts to don his armor.

Again the two commanders seem evenly matched, and men on both sides bleed and die.
