29. November 545, White Harbor
Lord Jon Manderly sat in his solar drinking a glass of wine, when he heard a knock on his door. Two men entered the room, his cousin, Ser Roose Manderly and Symon Snow.
"I called you because we have work to do." Jon said when they entered "Symon, you must travel to the Vale and you Roose will stay here with me to command the army." he explained
"Where in the Vale?" asked Symon
"First, Gulltown. Then you will leave the Vale and go to the Saltpans. Then, you will, on foot, leave for Lannisport. You know what you will have to do. But remember; don't tell anyone who you work for and keep a low profile."
"The Vale is at war with itself isn't it?"
"It is." Jon took a sip of the wine "But it doesn't matter, because if there are any battles near you, don't participate and run away from them."
"As you say, my lord." said Symon
"Remember to tell the people you bribe and buy that they don't babble about anything in front of other people. Make sure that you choose someone with at least a bit of a brain and tell them to follow everything and send all their information to the inn known as The Blond Sister on thew island of Sweetsister. I have a man there that sends all information to me and like that, the spies can't be connected with me directly." explained Jon
"A clever thing you did, my lord."
"Thank you Symon. Now leave, a ship is waiting for you." he said.
Symon bowed and left the room. Jon drank the whole glass and turned to Roose.
"Cousin, we both need to practice with our swords, because war is coming. Go prepare yourself, we will practice in the courtyard."
"As you wish, cousin." Roose said and left the room
Jon walked over to a chest in the corner of the room and opened it. From it, he took a blunted sword and left the room, headed for the courtyard.
This whole thing with the Kingdom might succeed. Reed is a good leader, Stark is charismatic, Bolton, Karstark and Umber are great warriors and Cerwyn knows the clans. Garris also mentioned something about other worshipers of the old gods in Westeros. Who was he talking about? The Blackwoods, maybe Royces? Would they really kneel to the king of the North?
As he was thinking about all this, he entered the courtyard. A few minutes later, Roose arrived with a greatsword in his hands.
"Are you ready cousin?" asked Jon
"Always." said Roose simply
Jon stroke first with a rain of hits ready for his cousin. Roose parried every hit, as strong as they were, with simple twists of his sword. Then, he started delivering the blows, but Jon simply danced away, ready for defense. Roose charged again, with all his strength, but Jon evaded and put his foot on Roose's way. The poor knight fell and his sword flew away from him.
Roose quickly got up and ran to his, turning around just in time to stop another rain of Jon's hits. Roose barely defended, because Jon was a deal lot quicker than him, but he maneged to deliver a blow on Jon's hip. The lord of White Harbor knelt and hit Roose's legs, puttting him down on the floor.
Despite the pain in his hip, Jon got up and put his sword under Roose's neck.
"Good fight, Roose." he said and helped his cousin up
06. December 545, Gulltown
Symon got on his ship on Sweetsister without the captain or the crew knowing of his presence. He was hidden in a barrel full of skins, so he didn't lack comfort, though it was a bit tight. Each day he went out of his barrel to get some food and water and to check where he was.
After eight days of that travel, the ship was only a few hundred metres from Gulltown. Symon's brain worked fast as he thought of a way to exit the ship. He sneaked to the deck unseen, but when a crew member shouted 'Oi' he thought his life was ended. He ran to the fence and jumped into the sea, going deep in the water where the crew can't see him. He swam quickly to the shore and after about half an hour, he was at the Gulltown docks.
He climbed up the wooden docks and finally found ground. Symon walked through the streets of this white town, as gulls flew over the ships.
Symon entered a white stone inn, where he was suppose to meet his man. He sat on a table in the darkest corner of the room and ordered an ale and a room. When he drank his ale he went up to his room and sat on the bed, waiting for the man that Jon's people informed him about. A few minutes later, someone entered the room.
That someone wasn't a man, but a beautiful, black haired woman.
"Who are you?" asked Symon
"Your connection." she said simply
"Really? A woman?" he smiled
"Yes, a woman, are you blind? I know a lot of people around here, so let's talk business." she said
"Fine. What I need are a few bribed guards and commoneers." he said and gave her a sack of silver "This will do."
"I love quick business." the woman said and left the room.
Symon sighed when he was alone "Ah well, this was easy business."
